Thanks. I just sprayed my heavily sugared syrup I call coffee all over my monitor. More excellent commentary on gaming.

Damn, I hope it wasn't a LCD monitor. Those things are cool, but they're so damn fragile and hard to clean safely.

When the hell are the makers going to wise up and put a sheet of tempered, polarized glass over the fragile LCD screens?

slightly off topic but...

Well, with the caveat that "but it works for me" and "free advice is worth every penny" and of course "use at your own risk" and "you will void your warranty"...

...I've cleaned LCD monitor screens for years (laptops and my PC) with no ill effects. A very slightly dampened (tap water) soft paper towel very lightly brushed across the screen horizontally and vertically for simple dust and light grunge. Same technique substituting window cleaner for water for more set-on grunge. And for really stubborn grunge a little wetter and a little more pressure in random semi-circular swipes.

...I considered adding a cover screen but after feeling the heat the front of the LCD throws off from the backlight I was afraid it'd cook the screen. I suspect that's why they aren't manufactured that way.

...not sure if the newer glossy LCDs are better able to take cleaning but I don't like the glare of them so it's a moot point for me.

fwiw :)

Oh, and I keep forgetting, carry on, there's potential here :)

(on the sizing issue, have you tried using the little drop down menu selection on photobucket to set the size when uploading your saved image? of course some of the panels have such small details that might be lost then and the scrolling around isn't too big a pain)

You know, the sizing problem seems to have resolved itself in a bizarre way I still don't grok.

I cut the DPI on the orignal bitmap to about 150-175, and that drastically reduced the image size, then I cnverted to gif which again whittled down the kb's, but it still looked a little blurry on my screen.

Well, I upped it to photobucket anyway, and I'll be damnd in writing if when I look at one of these via a pjhotobucket link it doesn't look clearer than it does when I view the original png or gif on my harddrive.

Totally bizarro, but it works, just don't ask me how...

Yes, LCD. I have some specially made alcoholish wipes for it.

I was recently given a defective LCD monitor and have kept it working with ritual blows to the casing, and when I looked it up online I got a lot of warning about using alcohol or ammonia based cleaners. If you know what kind of cleaners to use please let me know...

They contain a very small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol (Alcohol should always be capitalized). They are from www.falconsafety.com

heh... great stuff!

And I have the "hmm" moment... I love zombie stuff... and sci-fi... but haven't merged the two. Now... I wonder why?

zombies in CT.....

Well, I have some interesting things planned for the series, which again in case anyone missed it is called "Red Zone Blues".

Zombies, battles, intrigue and a run in with nobodies favorite enemy race are in the pipeline, now to see if I can finish it and keep posting it up here.

BTW, if something should prevent me from posting it here anymore, I'm also posting links to the eps on www.atomicsquash.com and www.rpgbomb.com in case my loyal fans (both of them) have to follow the strip to another site.

I like the pledge multi-surface, which includes electronics! Great for cleaning up all of my LCDs!

I spent quite a while trying to trace a free trader image to get a new perspective view of the ad astra and am still not happy with it but will use it.

If anyone has a lot of good, high contract views of free traders in various perspectives please post them so can use them for tracing purposes if you want to help out with the series.

Why not?

I put werewolves in one of my adventures.

It was a retro-virus, transmitted by bodily-fluid exchange.

What the hell...Has some one been sending you transcripts of my traveller game?

I was hoping some people would be doing the "Wow! It's incredible, just like he was at the table with us all those years!" bit.

"Hi everybody, my name is Dan, and I'm a fan. It's been 7 days since my last zombie contact. There was this 1 hour piece I taped from the tube the other week. Called "Fear Itself" if that rings any bells."

Not so much a fan of the comic, yet, but another fan of the zombies (etc.) in Traveller trope. Seems it's more common than any of us expected. It's pretty well worn in sci-fi too. Maybe we don't need a 12 (shuffle) step group :)

Yes, I plan to make a commentary about zombies being one of the few truly universal themes in RPGs, in that zombies can turn up in almost any setting from fantasy to horror to SF to modern conspiracy, etc.

In each universe they have a different cause, but the results are similar, making zombies a truly universal RPG trope.

Yeah, the "why not" was a question I was asking myself :-)

It's an easy fit too. Need a hook to get the ship stuck though, so the party has to go searching for a missing part.... and the city is deserted at first "where are all the people?" as they drive down street after street looking for someplace that they can get a jump modulator from... then, while they're inside digging through parts, the shuffling horde begins to mass outside....
