2000 Dton Modular Freighter

A cargo hauler that can carry 36 30ton cutter modules. Not everything quite fitted into a 2000dton Hull - about 2100 more like. Anyways - please pop over and take a look. Hope you can get some use out of it. This image is just the plan view (a reduced size one)

nice - the different types of cargo modules are a very neat idea

edit: i'd suggest it's worth anyone looking at all the different cargo modules as they could make interesting chase/shoot-out terrain

Amazing!

The detail on a vessel of this size is amazing!
Thank you, sincerely!
I will definitely use this ship in games! It is perfect for so many situations.
It can be a common bulk hauler... A passenger liner... A deep-space pirate base... A travelling village of... "Travellers."

Again... Thanks!

The versatility of modules gives it great potential. When I was first doodling it on a piece of paper I was thinking a great base for Space Gypsies. Glad you like it. I have another 2000Dton Freighter about a third done - this one a regular enclosed starship.

Good work

indeed, the first thing that came to my mind seeing it was modular space habitat (without jump drive and jump fuel).

As a bulker, the small modular "containers" would defeat the purpose behind bulk carryng ,if we understand its economic to be like the economic of a ship, rather than the economic a train where small wagons must be used to carry grain or ore.

As a module/container carrier, I am not sure I understand the way you optimize the modules handling arrangment. As a space habitat with few modules changed over a year, "cargo handling" is much much less an issue than comfort and access convenience.

As a Colony ship, the practicality to have the passengers organize their home before departure, hook it and live in it for the duration of the travel with final delivery on the new world is great. Some public services (clinic, townhouse etc) would be carried along.

very neat

have fun

Thanks for the great work. Your attention to the visual details is amazing.

Would you post the complete stats of the ship along with the crew breakdown?

I will get on to that this evening. Like i said, I fudged things a bit. A ship like this in a game is more of a plot device than anything else so I wasn't too worried if I stretched the 200tons a bit.

I worked up a modular freighter. Max tonnage 2000 tons. So I like the concept a lot. The concept I went with was a base vessel fitted with docking clamps to carry additional modules.
