A Model of Our Campaign's Ship...

Lords,

Submitted is a 144th scale rough model of the ISS Hidalgo, from the most excellent "Pulp Hunters" T20 Campaign, that I have been enjoying tremendously... I also have a model of my own ship, My beloved IISS Coreward Axis in the Drydock, and I shall post that when its wings are painted...

Regarde:

Hidalgo Model is in NEW PHOTOS

Please critique the model remembering that is intended to be a crude rendering, The "real deal" is going to be a lot more realized than this is, what?

My dear Baron,

Though you modestly describe the work as "crude", you and Mr. Shaw(your art lackey) should be quite proud. My poor work in this field pales by comparison(mostly monochromatic hulls<shudder> don't you know). I was especially pleased by the realism captured in the texture and plate lines. Thanks for sharing.

Lord Burocrate,

Your words are very kind... thank you. most of the panel detail is painted on using model master Insignia Blue, but I also used aluminum Duct Tape (the bright silver kind with a peel off Backing) and Lampshade Styrene (very thin glueable Plastic) both can be cut with Scissors easily or a razor blade, and can achieve variyng degrees of detail... and both are pretty cheap...

Lord Ranger,

The design in question is a 200 ton "free" trader of a made up Trade compant called the Interstellar Trade Company (ITC) sort of a spaceborne DHL or FEDEX. It is also known as the "Flat Trader"

The tremondously talented Tom Schone has also produced a variant called the "Flat Liner" and I shall post his awesome deckplans when I dig them up... I cannot stress enough how Detailed his work is... Truly amazing... and hes a good guy , too...

The Ship makes an Excellent player Ship, as it has a large Passenger potential, in addition to increased economy due to its Flattened Sphere configuration (cheap, but still Streamlined) The Deckplan supplied Is Gaudy because it is meant to mimic the charts often found on airliners in the seat pockets...

They are on the site, I believe, Lord Ran, There may also be blueprint style Deckplans too... It is under the Saano Shipyard Section... there are a few inconsistencies between the model and the plans, hopefully the 1/72 one will be spot on...

Glad you enjoyed it...

OK, just a quick question. I know you don't mean me, since I've never done a computerized deckplan in my life. So is there someone else into Traveller with a name that close to mine (Schone vs Schoene)?

A copy is posted on the yahoo group deckplans page in the files section under Journeyman Design Bureau. Modesty requires that I disclose that much of what I did flowed from his own work and would not be without the Baron's inspiration. Discussion of said plans took place starting here with the Baron's original post at the bottom of the previous page.

As for the praise I thank you again Baron, and by all means please feel free to post a copy on your site, I think someone mentioned not wanting to join yahoo and/or the group to get access when I posted it there.

This really is exceptionally cool!!!!

It's things like this that REALLY bring a ship to life.

Good work, Baron. Can't wait to see more!

Happy to oblige Baron only I see nothing to nitpick. Very nice and I agree with Scarecrow, its contributions like this that really help the game. There's nothing quite like a striking visual aid to focus the imagination. I can't wait for more.

I don't know if you know the site but you should submit your model pics to starship modeler page too for a wider audience. Maybe it'll even draw more players to the game and your own fine site.
