A traveller art suggestion

The Thing

SOC-13
In one game I did I had this idea for a solomani propaganda poster I described to the players, and I thought it was a good one so I'm sharing the idea with people here in case anyone who can draw worth vargr droppings wants to do it.

It's basically a solsec anti-zhodani propaganda poster in the spirit of various ww2 propaganda posters.

There are several variants. The main one features a huge termite, with the head of an archetypal zhodani that has obviously been gnawing at a wood plank labeled "free society" (I.E, the plank has little bite marks taken out of it.)

There's a huge boot heading down towards the termite, with the solomani symbol on the side above the heel, and the zhodani head it looking up in obvious wide eyed, open mouthed terror, with little bits of bleah dropping from the mouth to indicate it was interrupted while chewing.

The top of the poster would read "ZHODANI ARE VERMIN!"

The bottom would read "The Zhodani have reduced themselves to the level of hive insects, and seek to drag all humanity down to their level. Their agents gnaw at the foundations of free society day and night. Help SolSec protect you from their unspeakable ends by reporting any suspicious persons or activity to your nearest SolSec office or agent."

If anyone would like to do that poster as a piece of art, go for it. I can visualize it but have no drawing talent, so if you would like it for a piece of game art, feel free.

I think it really shows the solomani position on certain things pretty well, and since we have a mod here who uses the solomani symbol as an avatat I assume some people here like solomani imagery.

In fact, I won't be surprised if the Imperium would issue a similar poster as well - after all, they are the ones in war against the Zhodani. The solomani would probably be more concerned about Hivers than about Zho's, though I still like the idea of this poster (complete with its ironic bit about SolSec and "free society").

It's my idea, so feel free to run with it.

As to hivers and solomani, an idea popped into my head as I read your reply. if you want it, here it is:

A giant hiver looking down on some protesting humans, with strings coming off the 6 leaves of it's head (You know what I mean!) and puppeteering the "peace marchers" and "anti-solsec" protesters below, with some text about hivers being master puppeteers, while a pair of scissors with the solsec logo on them is moving in to cut the strings.

The funny bit here is referring to hivers as puppeteers, for reasons I won't start a flame war by going into.

Why because they are somewhat based on Pierson's Puppeteers?

Jeez, are you trying to start a flamewar? I always thought hardcore traveller grogs went ballistic over comparing hivers to puppeteers.

While I think there are very minor similarities, the hivers seem to be a lot less arrogant that puppeteers, and a lot more subtle. Also they seem to be more serious about non violence than the puppeteers, who comitted one of the biggest mass murders in history when they dropped the superconductor plague on ringworld.

All in all, I think I'd trust a hiver sooner than I'd trust a puppeteer.
