Aliens Module?

While I like Mongoose Traveller. (it leaves me warm and fuzzy) I am sort of sad that there is not aliens module now or proposed in the near future. At least cover the killer V's. (Villani, Vargr, Verushi, and Vegan) I think the aliens do add a bit of color to the game and maybe take up a few aliens that are not covered well in previous editions like the Bwap or Verushi. Maybe a book on Minor races and one on major ones. Throw a few extras in there too pure gold.

Of course there will be alien modules for Mongoose Traveller, for example
Gareth Hanrahan is currently working on the Aslan sourcebook. :)

The Aslan have been so thoroughly mishandled in the past that a new book is not necessarily a cause for celebration. Also, the art and verbiage already seen hint that Mongoose's aliens are not necessarily what we are already so familiar with.

For starters, look at the hands of the Aslan, both in the main book and on the cover of Spinward Marches. I'm told this is on purpose, so an open mind is going to be important...

The Aslan was one of my least favorite races i guess the whole cat people thing. I want some good stuff on the Droyne and Hiver. Anyways there is no relase scheduled yet. a book of minor races would rock too.

Well, it took GDW six years until Scouts was published, and seven years until
the first alien module (Aslan, too) was published, so I think Mongoose is still
very much "on time". :)

What about their hands?

Edit: If you're referring to the fact that their hands look close enough to human hands to use human equipment without any problems, I agree that this is wrong, and I would have put it down to artist ignorance and not thought any more about it. If it really is deliberate, I have to ask, why? What possible benefit would there be to changing something like that?

But if you're referring to the thumb being assymetrically placed rather than in the middle of the hands, the issue is a lot trickier. The assymetric hand is quite explicit in the original description of the Aslans in AM1. There's even an anatomical drawing of the bones of the hand. The symmetric hand came (I believe) from an illustration in one of the early issues of JTAS (Artist ignorance ;)).

Matt has made it clear that Mongoose will be working from the SM outwards, so races like the K'kree <spits> and Hivers <yay!> are going to be a loooooooonnnnggg time a-comin'.....

ooh yeah that includes the Solis too btw

At one point I mocked up an "Alien Module 0: Vilani", but it wasn't original content so it'll never see the light of day. It took the "History of the Imperium" pamplet (which I was first exposed to in the GURPS Traveller handbook, and was completely ignorant of until I found that at a used bookstore - it's what got me back into Traveller), the language generation tables from JTAS 17, Vland sector from AOTI and Sunbane data, snippets from T4:M0, and library data from various web sites, and some Peter Elson art (

This was before I was even aware of DGP's Vilani and Vargr or TD #5, so no maps of Vland or system data.

Actually, the anatomical drawing appears to be incorrect: "The Aslan hand has three fingers opposing one medially-placed thumb". (AM1, p2)

I have had to keep a open mind about the silly unrealistic hands of aslan for a decade and a half. bought time someone corrected this ridiculousness.
