Alone in the dark - 100-ton Solo Yacht

yacht.jpg

Designed to allow an individual to ply the spacelanes unaided. Some consider it a sport, others a way of life.

I've not had any time for Traveller since starting my new job, this is the draft (complete but unrefined) version of the first ship in my long-in-production Traveller module "7-ships". I might finish it one day, here's a sample in the meantime:

Mark,

Superb! And, quite naturally, greedily tucked away into my Vault of Traveller Treasures!

Thank you so much for sharing your skills with us.

Regards,
Bill

Beautiful and thoroughly Traveller.

Is Craig assisting you in your production?

I couldn't agree more. What a lovely vessel! Thank you so much for sharing your work.

This, and things like this, are what makes the Traveller community so great.

Tonnage only hits 96.7... I think there's a math error there somewhere... the MD is missing (3Td), and cargo shuld be 1.3...

Thanks for the comments guys!

robject, this was part of a personal project, I need to get back onto my design commitments for Craig -and other.

aramis - not a maths error, it's a typing gaff - the MD line has been blanked for some reason, and I chose to subsume the surplus tonnage into the overall deckage. You're suppose to design ships...not calculate em. ;-)

It reminds me of Reagan's "China Clipper" single stage to low orbit aerospace plane project, only with a tail. Streamlined for atmospheric refueling I take it?

Ah, didn't see that. Yeah, that Jump-4 capability makes it an excellent Far Yacht. A nobleman's plaything, but even useful as an emergency courier. One little stateroom means it's a bit tight, so a player won't be jumping every week -- he'd definitely need downtime between trips.

nice looking yacht dude -- good work

seems kinda like a scout in some ways being for 1 person -- as a noble would normally have a pilot and a chef .. :)

Knock off some fuel, and you can fit a small stateroom for a batman. It should be 2 tons per week at drive B.

Moreover, this is essentially an XBoat with 4G...

There'll definitely be plenty with some extra berthing, although that would be a bit of a relaxation of the ship's intended purpose. That means no week long furloughs, only occasional repair and reprovisioning. Solo flyin is hardcore! ;-)

Mark,
I have been following all of your designs now for some time,
and i have been eagerly awaiting some progress.
Here it is, its awesome.
I even get deckplan goodness also.
I look forward to your publication of "the 7 ships" book.
Exellent job, please keep up the good work.

He can still have a chef with this design, the ship has an emergency low berth.

Just thaw the chef when you get the urge for some haute cuisine.

Yum. :)

LOL -- Thaw the chef, and tell him to thaw out the TV dinner for food eh? .. lol

Hmm... could move 8t of fuel off to a drop tank in exchange for a couple of staterooms. And you can still make J3 without the drop tanks.
