CT Only: AM 3 Gvurrdon's Adventure Khouktae Empire

Morning all,

I've passed my recommendations on the breakdown of the Arrghoun language based on the consonants and vowels to Donald McKinney.

Now I've moved on to trying to map the Khouktae Empire, the area Gvurrdon's area of operations prior to his joining with the Zhodane traders, the route taken route to the secret base, and his journey to/from Zhodane.

Note 12 on CT AM3 page 45 indicates that the Khouktae Empire is centered roughly 4 parsecs around Aegadh. So far my map of the empire has taken in the areas extactly 4 parsecs around Aegadh per the notes on CT AM3 page 45. I created a map in Excel and I'm working on one using AutoRealm. Per the Anglic translation Vargr starships were capable of jump 2 during Gvurrdon's time. There are a number of worlds that are next to worlds within the 4 parsec range and a couple of more that are within 2 parsecs.

1. Would worlds 1 or 2 jumps away from the 4 parsec area be included in the empire?

2. Could worlds that were 1 or 2 parsecs from the ones in question 1 possibly be part of the Empire?

I'm sorry, but what's "AM3?" Is this a CT adventure I didn't know about? I'm a fan of the Vargr... Thanks!

Evening all,

My question about what worlds could be part of the Khouktae Empire was apparently to vague so here is attempt to be clearer.

1. Per Note 12 the Khouktae Empire centered roughly 4 parsec range around Aegadh (Subsector G 1317): Gaknau Val (Subsector G 1616), Ghugi (Subsector F 1716), Lloursouth (Subsector G 1717), and Uzotssaza (Subsector G 1816) are grouped within 1 parsec of each other. Gaknau Val, Ghugi, and Lloursouth fall within the 4 parsec range.

Would Uzotssaza be part of the empire?

2. Rirrronggzerz (Subsector G 1714) is 2 parsecs away from Ghugi.

Would Rirrronggzerz be part of the empire?

There are several other worlds that might be part of the empire that are laying one or two parsec beyond the 4 parsec range. Not to mention worlds that are one or two parsecs from these secondary worlds.

The next map I post will be my best guess of Khoutae Empire which also includes the route to the secret trade base.

Evening all,

My question about what worlds could be part of the Khouktae Empire was apparently to vague so here is attempt to be clearer.

Consulting my favorite mapping source, traveller Map I discover the following:

1. Aegadh (and the other worlds) are in subsector F, not G.

2. There one reason why Vargr would claim a world as part of their empire. There are others (usually Vargr) whom they could claim dominion over. Conquering and holding dead, empty worlds does not give you any Charisma.

Based upon that: Gaknau Val, and Ghugi are both very easily colonized worlds, and probably have a small population even in the far past.

Urkhaksadh and Firullvorzkokh are not easily colonized. They may be claimed by the Khouktae Empire, but only to make sure there are not any corsairs putting secret bases there.

It would be interesting if Dzuerongvoe is not part of the empire as the route to the secret needs to go through that world.

Hello tjoneslo,

Consulting my favorite mapping source, traveller Map I discover the following:

Thank you for catching my error with the subsectors. My copying and pasting of the subsector and location was a good idea, unfortunately the follow through was a flop.;)

However looking at the web page of the sectors, not the hard copies I made from the Interactive Atlas at http://www.utzig.com/traveller/iai.shtml or the stuff I made in AutorRealm Aegadh and Gaknau Val are both in subsector F. Ghugi, Lloursouth, and Uzotssaza are in Subsector G.

Subsector F covers hexes 0911 to 0920 and 1611 to 1620, which covers Aegadh in 1317 and Gaknau Val in 1616.

Ghugi is in 1716, Lloursouth is in 1717, and Uzotssaza is in 1816 which falls within the boundaries of Subsector G which are hexes 1711 to 1720 and 2411 to 2420.

2. There one reason why Vargr would claim a world as part of their empire. There are others (usually Vargr) whom they could claim dominion over. Conquering and holding dead, empty worlds does not give you any Charisma.

Urkhaksadh and Firullvorzkokh are not easily colonized. They may be claimed by the Khouktae Empire, but only to make sure there are not any corsairs putting secret bases there.

I go a long with the possibility that Urkhaksadh and Firullvorzkokh are not populated but they do fall within 4 parsecs of Aegadh which puts them within the empire.

It would be interesting if Dzuerongvoe is not part of the empire as the route to the secret needs to go through that world.

There appears to be two other way points in addition to Dzuerongvoe (F 1413) that fall within the empire. Dzerrdhakse (F 1116) and Urkhaksadh (F 1415). Of course the three worlds a probably only part of the empire when the empire's fleet is around. On the other hand the traders may have been doing business there and had just begun operating in Tsukifi when Gvurrdon and company caught them.

Thanks again for the reply.
