An old Scout ball cap I made

A while ago I ran a campaign set in the Trojan Reach, where the players were all Scout S3 operators deployed out of Cyan. I imagined one of the characters saying that he spent time in XBoats before applying for S3.

Maybe it was true and maybe it wasn't... but this was his hat.

Almost makes me want one. Sadly, I wouldn't wear one - I hate hats. Except in the rain.

Like some of my Traveller material, the hat spends about 99% of the time on a shelf where I can see it. Sometimes hats aren't just for wearing.

:D

I worked for a guy one time that had EVERY Baseball team cap. (EVERY)
College/Minors/Majors and all previous editions. Had a very large room added to his house to display ALL of them.

And he wore a different one to work every day.

Maybe that should be my dream licensing convo with Mr. Miller - one-off deep genre caps, each one lovingly crafted and commemorating a particular archetype.

Hmmmmmmmm.

I'll be your first customer. I just bought the hat that Brett (Harry Dean Stanton) wears in the first Alien film.

Love that stuff.

But, I'm picky and eclectic. "One-off Deep genre" is perfect for me.

Don't suppose it would be possible to do some Imperial Forces berets with sunbursts . . .

Imperial Star Marine - Maroon
Imperial Army - Black
Sylean Ranger - Gold

:)

Don't think I'm not making notes... crafting one-off hats, little works of art that spoke to individual diehard fans and were items to value seems like an amazing, unique way to connect with Traveller and its fans.

Interesting. i was talking to a group of Star Wars folks at a sf convention earlier this year and they made most of their costumes. Except for the body armor, and they were looking at a thermal vacuum forming machine that would help them make that.

We had one of those at university, back in my theatrical desgin days, that was used to form things like columns and face masks for Greek and Roman plays.

That is really well done. Did you do the embroidery yourself?

I did not. I found and acquired the cap, selected the logos and the colors, did the design work... and then had someone much more skilled and with equipment do the embroidery at my direction.

Which I'm sure was a little annoying, but lucrative for him.

Like others, I don't wear hats but that one could throw me over the edge. I like that it looks sort of well-used as well.

Heh... that's definitely the vibe I was going form - a keepsake that looked like it had seen more than a few parsecs, something a Scout decided made it into the bag every time there was another move, transfer, or paring down of items carried.

You should seriously get an OK from Marc to make these. I'm serious about buying one.
