Any current games in Anaheim, CA?

< POSTED: MARCH 03, 2009 >

Are there any Traveller games currently running in or near the west end of Anaheim, CA? This is where Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, and Stanton more-or-less come together, about 2 miles south of Knotts and 3 miles west of Disneyland.

I'm flexible as to which version is being run, and house rules are okay as well. I have my own books, dice, et cetera, and transportation is not a problem.

Please respond via Private Message. I'll check back once a week.

Thank you,

Keklas Rekobah

Usually a bit of a drive from me, but I *do* know of an active RPG group in Anaheim. One or two of the fellas might be willing to consider Traveller, but most of them are currently hooked into D&D3.5 or sundry boardgames. I've joined them for the boardgaming aspect (especially since they have the good sense to play Fantasy Flight Games boardgames, the only boardgames worth playing these days, in my never-humble-and-always-arrogant-opinion).

I'll email you more about it.

Well Keklas, I suppose we could meet halfway, meaning take turns gaming at each other's place (that's assuming head-to-head game would interest you).

Say 3 weeks in a row at each site ? (or until we realize it won't work). 1 night per week. That might not be too extravagant in the gasoline dept.

There's also online gaming via MSN Messenger, Google Chat or possibly OPEN RPG (I just joined a Thursday night game for another RPG).

No can do. Mrs. Rekobah is studying for her Master's degree, and this requires a quiet environment in the evenings (we both work full time). Both of us have health considerations that keep work and recreation close to home.

Thanx for the offer though.

Either I get back into playing Traveller with real people sitting around the same table, or I renew my subscription to World of Warcraft ... what's it gonna be?

I'm in Yucaipa, near Redlands.
100+ miles one-way is a bit too far to drive and still expect to be focussed on a game -- 90 minutes there, a few hours of Traveller, 90 minutes back ... that's 3 hours on the road! 30 minutes one-way is about all this old gamer can handle. That puts roughly a 30-mile radius on my Traveller travels.

But thanx, anyway!

(Let's see ... shall I take the tram or the Gryphon to Ironforge ...?)

It's 60 miles for me. but i agree. If you guys had an 8 hour game once a week, and i had someone to carpool with, then the gas and the drive would likely make it worth my time. Perhaps Gradrin and I can figure something out locally since we are 10 minutes apart. We had talked last year about it but between a horrible contracting experience and my move north, we wrote it off as bad timing.

I remember a time with driving to Disneyland took and hour (55 miles from Redlands), but no more due to traffic. Ah, the good old days with manageable traffic.

Best of luck to you in getting a game going. Suggestion: check out penandpapergames for a large pool of sci-fi players. Between this site and the one i mentioned (my two favorite), i have found little problem finding players. The other suggested site pulls in a large pool of players from every different rpg genre, so don't fault them for it. Ha.
