Anyone have the games book ?

The book contains high-quality photos of game components as well as the rules, so to actually play the games, you have to make copies, mount them on something, and cut them out, etc.

I don't own the book, as I already own Imperium and FFW and the only other game I might want is Invasion Earth and I have other things to spend my money on at present, so I've not put any of the games together, but it's not a huge task. Wargamers have been buying blank counter sheets and making map modifications as long as there've been wargames; I just don't have the time (or space)

The downloads section on the Far Future website contains scanned images of the maps, countersheets and (sometimes) play aids for the games. Very handy.

I have the games book, but I bought it entirely for the Striker rules. The other games were only of passing interest.

Yep. When I first got Games, I drew some simple counters for Mayday with StarOffice and printed them on card stock. Then I just printed out a page of hex paper from a PDF I had laying around. I played some solitaire games to try to get the feel of it.

I need to remember to study the rules before the next time my dad visits so we can play.

Although maybe some micromachines on my hex battlemat would be a better way to go...

I actually did a complete electronic conversion of FFW, for use with Strategic Map Simulator (freeware from http://www.flyingzebra.com/sms/), and Marc and I were discussing doing each of the games in a similar fashion. I had started work on Mayday when Marc went quiet on me, for unknown reasons.

I'm still pretty proud of the work I did on FFW (for my own enjoyment, honestly - I only contacted Marc because I was pleased with how it turned out and wanted to explore releasing it). I did alter some of the graphics, just for esthetic reasons, and I had to fit everything (fleet boxes, etc) onto one huge mapsheet. I did it mainly so that I could ponder actually playing the game - being a multiple-cat household, boardgames with counters left sitting on a table is just asking for trouble

Not sure why Marc decided to abandon the idea - I was never certain that it would sell (the idea was to release Mayday for free, then sell a CD with the rest of the games, as an add-on to the reprint book), but it might have been cool to give it a shot. In the end, I'm not unhappy that it fell through - I found a number of other ways to spend the time that would otherwise have been spent huddled over Photoshop. Still, it was exciting while we were discussing the possibilities.

I've printed out and laminated counters for Snapshot and Mayday. It was a painstaking process to produce moderately good results. Of course, if you loose a few, you can always make more.

I blew up the Snapshot deckplans and printed them out on 4 sheets of paper, then I laminated them together.

If I did it over I would try to make the deckplans slightly bigger and the counters slightly smaller so that they fit better in the squares.

I would like a good map for Imperium, but haven't figured out how to put one together.... (The scans are really bad for that....)
