That's what I want to say, but how do I upload a pdf file? Can I? If I can't, any suggestions?

See if I remember:

Go to the link near the top COTI Features, choose File Library and
then choose the most appropriate grouping and then go from
there.

I came across the picture in an old Traveller's Digest magazine (#19). I don't know who the artist is but I really like it. So I dug up my Lotus 1-2-3 software, ran my MT design sheet (not used in 4+ years) and came up with this design. The deckplans are drawn in AutoCAD LT 2000.

Top Deck (front to back)
Bridge & crew staterooms
Passenger staterooms, shrine and lounge
2 convertible cargo/fuel bays
Power plant
Jump drive
Tail sandcaster

Cargo Deck (front to back)
Avionics
Main cargo hold (100 t)
2 cargo bays
Low berths (20)
Jump drive
P/S MDrives

Having a little trouble hatching all the curved areas.

The ship can make a living if it charges double for passengers and cargo. This seems reasonable, since it takes a top-of-the-line TL 14 ship to have J-5. I've never liked the 'one price ticket takes you where you want to go without any regards to distance' rules. The ship can be armed but generally isn't -- the route is very well patrolled.

1: Probably should not call it a type A; type A is 200T J1
2: needs labels; where's the bridge?

Swiftbrook,

Nifty design! It's now part of my Black Hole of Quality.

Remember that, when you're calculating the design's possible revenue, there are no high passages in Aslan space.

Thanks again. :)

1: I got the type "A" label from the Referees Manual page 84. Type A refers to Merchant.

2: I still need to label it, and add lots of details, but the bridge is port side at the bow. I considered placing it somewhere in the center, but it just didn't quite fit.

Thanks, I forgot that.

One minor glitch..

In the PDF under the 'other' section an extra '0' has creeped in or a decimal point has creeped out - the cargo is stated at 27000 kl, where I suspect it is 2700 kl.

Oh, and I need a good name. I'm not up on Aslan words. Tadpole just came to me because that's what the ship plan looks like. I figured it was a human slang term for the ship that, if spoken around an Aslan, would get the human into a lot of trouble from the very offended Aslan.

Swiftbrook,

Need a name? I could roll up a few syllables on CT's, MT's, or GT's language charts and then assign some English meaning to the result, but why bother?

Official Aslan names are supposed to be lengthy, descriptive, and precise; i.e. Fifth Gunnery Officer Schmuel Of The Cruiser "Refulgent Odor Of Victory" Whose Sire Holds The Lands Beside The Bay Of Window Near The Northern Delta Of The River Styx On Arglebargle-IX. Naturally, given those jawbreakers, they tend to use shorter more ambiguous nicknames; Shemp, whose meanings a very context dependent.

Let's go with a descriptive name. The canonical 400 dTon Aslan trader is the Eakhau-class and the Aslan name for the sector containing the Jump5 Rift Route is Iiyoihuakh. Slap them both together and there's your name: Iliyoihuakh Eakhau.

Bill
