Assembling a demo party

Brandon C

SOC-13
I've read most of the MgT core rules I got last week. My intention is to run a demo of it at the new FLGS (all my main go-to games are OOP or older editions, so I decided to pass on them for now).

Anyway, I want to mercilessly rip-off ideas for party members (PC and NPC) and the bad guys from more-or-less recent sci-fi series -- Firefly and Farscape being the two that came to mind. OTOH, the members of Stargate SG-1 as crew of a scout cruiser interests me.

For characters, I'm going to have them all (4-6; I don't like GMing large groups) pregenerated -- my intent is not to start a campaign that day, but show off the game. I'll probably cheat a little in this, with each character having a preset number of terms (no survival rolls) and skills will be picked, not rolled for.

For alien PCs, vargr seems the most workable.

Any comments?

I'm tempted to say that maybe MgT character generation process deserves being shown off as well. If you're running a demo, you want to highlight what's special about Traveller, right?
