Book 2:High Guard - Character Generation Example

Hi, all...

I was looking at the Character Generation example for High Guard. It states on page 40:

"Harek attempts to enter naval college, but his low social standing prevents him (required roll for Soc 6+ to enlist, rolls a 5). He will have to work his way up through the ranks." Okay, his social standing of 6 gives him a modifier of 0. I understand this example to read that he needed to get 6 or higher to be admitted. However, I don't see this stated anywhere in the Naval College section. It appears that the admissions roll is different for each college (support, gunnery, etc), and none of them are Soc 6+.

Huh? What?

It could be a case of rules change. The rule is changed before printing, but no one checks to make sure the example given was changed too. I know that is the case in other books.

This _is_ possible, and it is the bane of games companies everywhere. We always try to leave the examples as the very last thing we do in a book, but there is always something, some little number somewhere, that changes!

I know I haven't posted on this in a while.

So, I assume the example is borked? If so, I follow the rules for each Naval College specialization?

Please advise.
