Cepheus Spacecraft Spreadsheet Tutorial

Spreadsheet: http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Discuss/showthread.php?t=41163

The spreadsheet starts with a complete default ship:

Make small iterative changes until you are happy with the result.

Only change values in grey cells. Mainly we add values in the "Desired", "#" & "Rat" [Rating] columns, we add number of systems in the "#" column and the size or rating of the desired system in the "Desired" column.

Generally what you get is limited by the selected TL, e.g if you ask for a m/7 computer at TL-12 you will get a m/4 computer.

Let's build a patrol ship:

We specify TL-14 in cell A3 and a military ship by specifying a positive number in cell A4. Military ships automatically use double occupancy, but that can be overridden in cell A5, 0 = Single occupance, 1 = Double occupancy.

Specify the size of the ship in cell B8, say 600 Dton.
Select configuration in the drop-down list in cell B9, say Streamlined.
Cell B10 allows you to choose type of armour. The best armour for the TL is selected by default. Leave it as is.
Specify armour thickness in cell D10. Specify a large number to get the maximum allowed. In this example we want a lot of armour, e.g. 20.

Cells D11-D13 allows us to specify Reflec, Self-Sealing, and Stealth respectively. We want Self-Sealing and Stealth:

We specify drives with the desired rating. The power plant is dimensioned automatically.

We specify J-2 and M-4:

Minimum fuel is automatically added.

A fuel purifier is automatically added, that can be turned off in cell D23.

You can fine-tune the selected drives with the meny in cells B15-B17, e.g. to get more energy weapons in small craft.

Bridges can be specified by type (for small craft) and number. A reasonable bridge is pre-selected.

Computer(s) can be specified by rating, bis or fib (cell C26), and number. A reasonable computer is pre-selected, for military ships the maximum for the TL.
Software can be added in cells C27-C30, limited by the size of the computer. Military ships have most software pre-selected.

Sensor (Ship's Electronics) can be specified with a number in cell C32, bigger number gives a better sensor package, 0 means Standard (DM-4) package. Military ships have the best for the TL pre-selected.

Weapons are specified by type, weapons/turret, and number of mounts.

For turrets a negative number of weapons per turret gives a Fixed Mount, and a negative number of mounts gives a Pop-up mount. Example:

For mixed turrets Fixed Mount can be specified the drop-down menu in cell B54.

For this ship we specify a Meson bay, a couple of Particle turrets, and three mixed point defence turrets:

Ship's craft are specified by type and number. Size, cost, and crew of craft can be overridden if desired.

Select a Launch from the drop-down menu in cell A64:

Crew is calculated automatically, minimal for civilian ships and full complement for military ships.

Passengers, extra accommodations, and extra crew can be specified at the top of the spreadsheet. We add 10 Marines and an extra crew member to get a nominal crew of an even 30.

Accommodations are allocated automatically:

Extra systems can be selected in rows 40 and 41.

If you need more systems, add more rows by copying an entire row and inserting a new row:
