General Coins - 154th Battle Rider Squadron

I don't have a 154th, but I do have a Huscarles' coin.

These suckers are metal, heavy, and remind me of what "challenge coins" are supposedly like.

I kind of want them.

My wife framed my real ones for my office wall, but with the exception of the Asst Secretary's, these fantasy ones are better looking.

I just received mine. Absolutely beautiful, and much better looking in person than through my photography skills.

Now to roll up a Navy character to go along with it!

These are manufactured by one of the companies that makes them for various units.

Challenge coins and commanders coins, while allowed, and widely encouraged, are not official issue. (They are an allowed spend part of the MWR budget according to the last items I saw on Army.mil.) So commanders have a wide range of sources to commission them from. The place Marc uses (Challenge Coins Ltd.) has some military contracts. Several GI's I know are jealous of the quality... Many are not double sided cloisonne process.

So these are pretty much different only in that they are not for current real world units.

I just got two coins...

I was supposed to get 1 of each, but so far just 1 showed up (4518th). Hoping that for some reason things got mailed out individually and will wait another week to see if that is the case. But is is a very pretty and nice challenge coin. I liked the card & case as well - nice touch.

Mine came in separate shipments, about... a week apart>?

For the 4518th - First Sergeant, Epsilon Battery, Fourth Battalion with MCG

For the 154th - Chief Sensor (Lieutenant), Battle Rider Lannur

The Marine is probably going to be a gift to a buddy that I started playing Traveller with back in the day - he's prior service Marine, now enlisted in the National Guard where he's an Staff Sergeant in an artillery unit LOL!

Just means I'll need to get another 4518th coin for myself....

D.

4518th Coin

Pleased to have received delivery yesterday:

Company Commander (Captain O3)
Gamma Company (Jump Troops)
Sixth Battalion (Jump Troops)
4518th Lift Infantry Regiment

I've received mine:

#28: Spinal Weapons Officer (lieutenant, O3)
BR Agu
154th Battle Rider Squadron.

And now I remember I've never taken gunnery skill as Spinals ;)...

I received mine, but with an mismatch of "serial number" and identity on the roster when I looked it up. But, checking this morning, the online roster has been corrected.
http://www.farfuture.net/154thBRS.pdf

Coin is number 190: Executive Officer (Lieutenant), FE Warren, 154th Battle Rider Squadron.

I think I'll assign it to one of my NPCs, Baroness Theresa Honeycutt as part of her personal history, as she made Lieutenant in the Navy before retiring and becoming an administrator among the nobility.

Note (added 12/16/17): There is a second roster at http://www.traveller5.net/154thBRS.pdf It looks like the "mismatch" is between the 2 versions. Have sent the info to Marc.
