Cross-Over Cartography

Has anybody done any cross-over cartography between Traveller and 2300? I'm thinking a 2D subsector type map done using 2300 near earth star data. Looking at the Solomani Rim, some real stars are already in there, it would mean plotting the rest into hexes that mirrored the spatial distance fom one another.

I think Harold Hale of Children of Earth fame did something like this for Traveller, near Earth.

As you get farther from Terra, it's less accurate, of course.

I don't know if he posted here, ever. I last attended a session with him Refereeing some 10 years ago.

I did, once, for a setting of mine that never saw fruition. The American Arm corresponds roughly to subsector F, the Chinese Arm to subsectors E and J, and the French Arm to subsectors H and L. Kafer space corresponds to G and H. The Pentapods exist in the sector east of the Solomni Rim, and the Pleiades to rimward.

The Vegans who brought the Kafer out to Barnard's, i.e the Core, don't exist in the American Arm. Let's say that the Ancients destroyed them in a battle with planetkillers. With that gone, the Vilani's closest approach to Earth would likely be in subsector D, jsut coreward of the Kafers.

There's some websites out there that establish correspondences between real-life stars and their Traveller counterparts, I know.

Anyone have a copy to share of any of these 2-D conversion maps of 2300AD charted space?

Unfortunately the links in this thread all now generate 404 and Not Found errors.

Andy Slack published an article about converting between Traveller and 2300AD. It is currently on the web at

http://www.geocities.com/pentapod2300/gold/23trav.htm

Andy also had a an article in GDW's Challenge Magazine (No. 75) that was called "Core Sector - The Core Systems of 2300AD rated for the New Era". You can get this on-line as part of a PDF that he compiled called "Rants, Rogues & Rules" at

So "http://www.geocities.com/pentapod2300/gold/23trav.htm" can still be found HERE.

But "http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andyslack/html/g_dwnld.html" is not available on the Wayback Machine.

Thanks for the Wayback link; unfortunately that page did not have any maps with it, being more about conversion of characters and world UPPs.

However, I was inspired to google for the other article and did find it online at http://www.travellerbibliography.org/whitedwarf/ctrrr.pdf , and it does have one subsector converted from 2300AD to Traveller-style hexmap, so at least that is a start!
