CT CD Questions

Vargas

SOC-14 1K
What I have are more along the lines of questions than necessarily problems so I decided to post here and not the existing sticky at the top of the page.

I was going through my CD yesterday and noted two things:

1) At the front of Starter Traveller there are maps taken from Mission on Mithral and Shadows but neither adventure is in the file and I don't see them in the table of contents; were they in the original set? (I'll also note that the copy of SR on the CD I have was printed in the UK by Games Workshop.).

2) There are additional maps for Imperium labeled "Twilight"; where did these come from? I assume they were added later based on the fact that they weren't part of the copy of the game I have.

TIA.

The starter box had an 8.5x11" relayout with those two adventures as a double adventure. The map was a separate card.

Am I the only person to find it impossible to open the Tarsus Box Set on the CD?

Everything else works fine but Tarsus just starts to open but never does, no matter how long I leave it.

It's fine on mine Poor Merchant. I do have one book that won't open though (can never remember which one) because it's mislabeled in the directory. Maybe you've got the same problem with a different file?

I can still open my problem one manually so I didn't bother Marc but I think I've heard he'll replace defective CDs, drop him an email explaining the problem and include your original order information. He might not answer your email and just send it, but if you don't get something after a few weeks ask again (here) and somebody might be able to contact him for you.

This may seem like a particularly dumb question - but how do you open a file "manually"? I've just been clicking on the appropriate link in the contents page.

No dumb questions :)

You have to go (presuming a PC) through your "Start" menu to "My Computer" and find the CD there, then open it, select your preferred file display, scroll down to the one you want and open it there.

Before you do that have a look first when you hover the mouse over the Tarsus file in the contents page and see if the url in the info line is actually pointing to Tarsus (mine shows /E:/CT M01 Module 01 Tarsus.pdf )...

...hmm, now that I think about it Tarsus is ringing a bell related to this. Maybe someone else did have the same problem. I'll try a quick search...

...no luck. Doesn't mean it's not there, but I couldn't spot it :)

Brilliant!! It works!

And I'm using too many exclamation marks!

Thanks a lot for that - it was starting to niggle at me that could not open it.

I find the CD-ROMS a bit fiddly to use, too. I simply copied all the PDFs into a directory on my hard drive. I just opent them from the Explorer, or directly from Adobe Reader. Now they're always on hand, and easier to use.

Well this seems just the thread to ask a question that has been eating at me for a while.

On the whole I am quite happy with the scans on the CT-CD. But on the “Fifth Frontier War” pdf, the image of the game counters can get pretty blurry. Specifically, the names of the various flag officers on the back side of the counters are mostly illegible. Not necessary for playing the game, but an important bit of flavour in my opinion.

Is there some kind person out there who could provide a list of the names? I’m especially interested in the Zhodani names. Thanks.
