CTUtility

parmasson

SOC-14 1K
I had a total hard drive failure and had to go get another drive. :mad:
I am trying to reinstall CTUtility and it tells me that it cannot find “Readme.tx_”
The readme file is there.

Any ideas? The machine is HP with XP

Weird. I had some similar problems when I downloaded CTUtility a few days ago... my PC said that it was possibly a corrupted file. I re-downloaded it a couple times. Same error. But I was able to successfully download other utilities from the Library and had zero problems with those.

I also run an HP PC with Windows XP....

Strange thing. An old copy I found on a back up disc worked. The new download still would not install even when I changed the .txt bit.
set up asks for
File9=1,,Readme.tx_,Readme.txt,$(AppPath),,,3/10/2001 12:23:24,10644,,"","",""
No idea what it means.
Got the old copy to work in the end, thanks for the help.

I finally got the CTUtility to work....

And I am impressed! Too bad the original author is no longer around. This ctutility is definitely the best piece of Traveller freeware I've ever seen to date. It's like a Traveller swiss-army-knife software. What's obvious is that the author could have easily updated this thing and made it 3 times better! It has lots of potential.

The utility has a few typos here and there, but overall it's functional. The chargen section is extremely useful.

I know, IMHO the only thing missing was character generation that allowed you to shape the system by entering your own stats and/or allowing a bit of tweaking skills with your own modifiers. When I need NPCs, ships or anything else NOW I use CT Utility.
