Deluxe Traveller... Valuation?

CorPse

Hey Gang,

I'm having trouble finding auction results for Deluxe Traveller... I'm guessing you guys know exactly the edition I'm talking about. It looks a lot like the little one, only bigger. (Also contains additional books and a star map.)

Just curious to know if anybody has a ballpark estimation of its value.

It will probably find its way to eBay with a couple of older Traveller goodies in the next few weeks.

Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

Everything depends on the condition of THE BOX.

If it's in tatters: $15 or so

If it's noticeably dinged, edges split etc.: $30 or so

If it's near pristine: dunno, maybe $50 these days?

The above being my subjective and somewhat outdated estimates.

I'd price it lower myself...
Given that all the stuff in the books are avail in the reprints or on the CD, the only thing I still regularly use that can not easily be bought new via one of the above is the large map of the Spinward Marches.

And a value on that wildly depends on where your games happen. If it is Ley Sector or some other Sector then the Spinward Marches map is nothing but a nice wall poster.

If I had to put a value on it to a new or "collection filling" player, I'd say $5 in bad shape to $15 in best shape.

Of course, I could be clueless >:)

But I am only Marc

CT, there's a diff between people buying to play and people buying to collect. The "woodgrain" box edition of OD&D (1976 IIRC) now goes for several thousands, even if the box is essentially cardboard mash.

Yes, stuff can very widely. I always open my auctions to "worldwide" buyers. In some countries it's almost impossible to get classic RPG content and people are willing to pay a premium. So, you truly never know.

I payed around £25 plus shipping for my copy of Deluxe Traveller (to replace the old long lost copy) and the box wasnt in particularly good shape (I paid the same for Striker) so whats that, around $100?!!

worth every red cent though:.)

Personal feeling price is a matter of timing, which includes the desire & funds of any given bidder in the auction. When I auctioned my Seeker deckplans off to pay for med bills I don't think I had more than one go over $20, & not by much. Recently I saw the same plans, in the same condition go for about $70.00. I've sold off most of my MM traveller minis except some Zhodani, Vargyr, Droyne, & Aslan at various time. The price I got was varied & depended on who was buying. I had good timing with my Judges Guild stuff, I sold most of them before there were a lot on ebay.
