dumb timeline question

I came to these games via MT and T2k, and never had any of the 2300 books.

But reading the MT timeline the other day I noticed that it lists the interstellar wars taking place in 2300. I gather that's not what 2300 is about? I don't see any Vilani mentioned in here.

I'd always assumed that the universe was basically continuous from the Third World War games through T2K, 2300, and then Traveller, with DC as a weird deviation, but I seem to be horribly mistaken.

If there's some coherent wiki or post that discusses the differences in continuities between the games I'd be interested in a link.

Understandable Confusion

Nope, 2300 is a continuation of Twighlight 2000 but neither game has anything to do with the Traveller timeline, this is part of the reason for "Traveller:2300" becoming "2300AD: Mankind's battle for the stars"

and

provide the requisite surveys.

It is important to note that the confusion over the 2300 universe in relation to the OTU was present from the point of announcement.
