Found Under Tree

saundby

SOC-14 1K
For us this year it included the Talisman upgrade pack (to update our Black Industries 4e to the new Fantasy Flight Games version), Munchkin 2: Unnatural Axe, and Terry Pratchett's latest novel, Nation. The Mongoose version of Traders and Gunboats never quite got into wrapping paper, but it was part of the XMas haul, too.

Thanks to the Talisman pack and the Munchkin pack, the two new controllers for the Wii that were under the tree (so we can play 4-way now) are still in their vacuum-formed plastic. I think they'll come out tomorrow, though.

What fun stuff have others come by?

Won't know for several hours (about 12).

Got my 4yo a copy of "Hungry Hungry Hippos"...

Agricola and the Lego Advanced Tie Fighter model!

My 5 yr old took Santa to the cleaners. Have to have a talk with Mama....

Merry Christmas!

Five years old--that's definitely the time to take Santa to the cleaners. For me that was my Major Matt Mason year. Santa came up with a moon walker, moon buggy, and a base with a satellite dish. My old G.I. Joe went over the wall to fight for the Lunarians, but Mason's technology won the day!

Each of my girls got their first Unix box for their fifth Christmas (old HP 700 series workstations.) Oneko was the order of the day, followed by much MUDding. ;) A few years ago I got them Mac G3 B&Ws. "Oh boy! iTunes!" they said. Last year they got upgraded to Mac Minis. "Does this mean we can run...Quartz Composer?" asked one.

This year's been relatively modest for them. Most of the gaming stuff was family gifts since we all play together as well as with friends. They've finally opened up the Wiimotes and they're testing them with Wii Ski (a favorite with them and their friends) now.

Tomorrow we head off for Grandma's house, where another round of XMas will happen.

Well I got my T5 Disk and an awesome indoor remote control Helicopter cant wait to chase the cat with it. And that is not mean the cat loves to be chased thats why he keeps jumping on the dog and then running away.

LOL! :D

Oh Yeah! My sister & brother-in-law went old school and got that for my kids this year (among a bunch of other things). I don't think any gift (save a couple on the Wii) were as much enjoyed!

Neat! Color me green on both counts. ;)

*adds indoor helicopter to own list for next year*

The 4yo got a personal trampoline (1m diam)...

Me, I got a half-pound summer sausage, a bag of sweet-hot beef jerky, Bully Scholarship Edition (Wii), Wii Music, Quiddler and Five Crowns card games, Bab5 season 1.

Money to pay bills.

A teddy bear from a complete stranger; We went and saw Dale in the hospital today, and on the way in, were accosted by Santa and each given a teddy bear; Dale was given a bear and a pocket radio.

Dale of course, got Chemo-therapy for Christmas, as well.

Major Matt Mason and GI Joe... two of my favorite things! Speaking of... my wife gave my sons (7 and 5) and I each a repro GI Joe. Just like the originals. Right down to the little booklet that comes with him, the one that looks like an old field manual. That was a fun surprise! Other cool things... MGT Spinward Marches, and 760 Patrons... sadly no Traveller dice, nor a bottle of Tokay, but I did get the Leif Ericson coffee mug and Leif Ericson scoutship t-shirt that were on my list!

My sons made out like bandits in the Lego department. I know what I'm going to be doing for the next week.

The missus received a huge chunk of cash for the 'Verse, Firefly (on bluray) and Serenity (also bluray).

It was a big Wii holiday here at the house - Wii music, Wii Fit, and the Star Wars games Clone Wars (my daughter is a fan of the cartoon) and Force Unleashed (which so far seems pretty cool).

Also, there were ties, running gear (a pullover fleece and windbreaker) and some Absente(!).

Did you know that QMX came out with a beautiful chart/map of the Firefly 'Verse? I didn't. Daughter got it for me for Christmas, and we had a Firefly Marathon, with the chart out looking up all the points visited by my favorite spaceship.

I've seen the site, but didn't know if the missus would like it. And since she's the huge Firefly fan, I passed. I should have gotten for someone. Since we plan on finishing off our Firefly campaign using Traveller, it would have come in handy.

Don't let her hear you say that. You will be in trouble. It is a beautiful chart, and any Firefly fan will want one.

Leif Ericsson shirt and mug--kewl lewt indeed!
And =real= G.I. Joes! Hurray! Dang, have they re-released the Mercury capsule by any luck? One kid in my neighborhood had it, and everyone =knew= he was the luckiest kid among us. I had to jake do with a cheesy home-made capsule, that I tried to make into a Gemini capsule, but it was a disaster in attempted one-upsmanship.

Blueray Firefliy...
Tell me it's not really that much better than DVD...please? ;)

Wii stuff is fun. We're going to be looking for sales on good 4-player games now that we've got controllers for everyone. Tennis and bowling only go so far, and the kids can't get us to play Super Smash Bros. They look at me funny when I ask if we can do 4-way fishing in Zelda:Twilight Princess.

I'll have to start a thread in Random Static to get some recommends...

My best friend had one. It really was the ultimate in cool toys. But I had a bunch of the cool Major Matt stuff - the Unitread for one - so it balanced out.

The real GI Joes she picked up at Walmart. I was wondering if maybe someone had found some of the 40th anniversary Joes in a warehouse, but the boots at stamped 40th anniversary, and 2008. So they are new. Since they didn't have any fun equipment we went out and bought a pack of Ultimate Soldier weapons for them.

The Leif stuff is awesome. Though the image on the mug was cut just slightly short. Maybe I'll email the guy who sells them just as an fyi.

Dunno. Haven't watched it yet. The reviews say the sfx shots don't transfer well because they weren't done in hi-def. But I have seen the show on run on the Universal hi-def channel, and it looks really, really good. So I'm expecting it will look similar on the bluray.
