Free or Shareware .doc to .pdf conversion software

I'd like to convert some Word (2000) .doc files to .pdf, but can't seem to find a free/shareware program that will keep the formatting of the .doc files in place (i.e. stuff like 2 columns on a page, tables in the right places, etc).

Any suggestions as to where one could locate such a prgram?

Mac OS 10+ has this as a built-in.

For earlier macs, Print to PDF by jwwalker.com is a very good solution.
