Futuristic sport?

I thought it would be more like in Chessmen of Mars, where each chess "piece" had to fight the destination square's defender.

I think I'm going to agree with Easterner. By the 12th round, I'm sure they're just picking up any old piece and moving it wherever - unable to see the board and woozy. This makes rollerball look classy.

Rollerball rules...why aren't we playing yet? Oh yeah, because even the NFL players are suing over head injuries nowadays.

sigh

Hey - anyone remember that Grav-ball game GDW came up with back in the 80's as the Traveller super sport? Martian Metals had the figures and that floating refree-robot thingie so you could play it. I remember it was kind of frustrating to play and eventually tossed the whole thing and just went back to playing out Rollerball with Car Wars rules and maps IMTU.

Ah...I forgot who made it. Thanks.

I kind of wish I still had it if only to complete my collection of ancient Traveller rules to go next to my last tattered copies of the LBBs.

I do remember fondly those newsprint supplements from FASA, ugly though their Adventure Class plans sometimes were (oh, and remember the boxy old LBB2 cruiser before the Broadsword came out in JTAS?) I still have some in my stacks. They have been reprinted since but nobody has reprint grav-ball.

I would dearly love to see those rules. I have a character who was a Marine Grav-ball team coach (and former player). I also have a great idea for a Marine recruiting video played during a grav-ball game, set to a re-worded popular 20th century rock song. It's intended to be played while the Marine team goes through their "practice" (as Sweet Georgia Brown is to the Harlem Globetrotters). I just have to find someone who can animate the thing, and someone to play the song when I rewrite it........

And thus do the Finks keep the legacy of the 1964 U.S. presidential campaign alive into the Far Future. Amazing thing, culture. ;)

But I do allow plasma guns in place of the traditional flamethrowers in "sudden death overtime."

So how do your squamish Probate Judges come up with a new Spanish peseta? Or have they changed over to flipping a credstick?

Not that I care so long as the call gets missed. I just want to play since Raunching is my favorite minor infraction. :D

They simply declare some shiny object a Spanish peseta.... After all they are judges and liars....err, lawyers.... And, somehow the call always ends up in a game....
