So we were discussing vehicles when the subject thievery came up, sorta....

Anyway, my question how many of my fellow Travellers have seen a little "home' movie called appropriately enough: Gamers?

I think it's because of such lines as "Now I steal his pants!" and "I shoot him in the neck!" that I love that movie. (I need to get a copy...) The GM's responses to such lines are classic and work about as well against a well trained Timmii (who's sign is Anubis) squad as they ever do. Ah the good old days.

Fair warning production values are well, they're home movie quality, but the lines totally make up for it. Basically true cheese.

I haven't seen the whole thing yet, but what I've seen is a crack-up. The cocky thief in the inn is great! "Dude, I can't believe you took his pants!"

Traveller needs something like this. A short piece packed with some standard Trav cheese would be great.

You can try looking on youtube but getting the DVD is well worth it. And one should note that there is also a second Gamers movie, aptly named Gamers 2: Dorkness Rising.

I enjoyed Gamers 2. It contained some pretty clever writing that was both witty and smart. I haven't seen Gamers, so I can't compare the two. However, someone who I know who has seen both says they are equally good, just in different ways.

I loved the original gamers and gamers 2 was appropiately silly but more professionally done hence it lost some of its charm of the first film. I have often suggested both at Dead Gentleman's Production (the production company behind Gamers) and here (http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Discuss/showthread.php?t=16805&highlight=gamers) that the subject for Gamers 3 has to be Traveller and spoofing SFRPGs and maybe throw in a Great Old One a la Star Trek.

A good spoof of Traveller is well overdue. We have not seen much since the venerable issues of Challenge & White Dwarf.

Speaking of...

OK, so it is on YouTube, as is G2 (which I had to check out, I know bad Magus).

Loved it, it rocked and the references are amusing, such as the "Errrggg, arrrgggh" and frankly the Pali's device sure looked a lot like a certain Starburst...:smirk:

I had some jerks allude to this video during our gaming sessions. I have no interest in seeing it.

Saw the rest of Gamers

OK, I watched the rest of the first movie tonight. The meeting with the new character was S.O.P. and still funny as can be. As to the ending...I've played that very adventure more than once, at least once in dorms indistinguishable from those in the movie.

Lots of fun.

I was watching the credits closely looking for anyone I knew, too. Unfortunately, I don't know the "mundane names" for many of the folks I know in An Tir. (I loved the guy in the inn in standard-issue-ugly SCA field armor.)
