Gateway Cover

Oh, man, that looks awesome! Thanks for sharing it with us... love the aliens along the edge... nice flow of concept art.
Guess I've got a new background for my desktop now.

I'm getting excited about seeing the book come out in print now!

Thanks for sharing it with us,
Flynn

I'm always the art critic, not that it makes any difference at all, so...

Is that brown-furred guy supposed to be an Aslan? His ears are a bit long, it must be a K'Kree surely? Or is it a dastardly hybrid (doomed to self-destruction)?!

Also, the Vargr with the sword is a bit out of place there though, I think. Looks too anachronistic (plus the fact that it looks like a B-movie werewolf).

You can tell I'm not too keen on the general style of covers you have for your books

Ummm have you looked at CT Alien Module 1 or GURPS Aliens Races 2? Take a look:

BTW, the K'kree have small ears not big ones, at least compared to Aslan:

This is Traveller. The game that regularly gives bladed weapons as skills right?

They are genetically modified dogs/wolves...

Speaking of werewolves...

And that you aren't very familiar with the Traveller alien races... ;)

The only issue I have with the cover, which I like, is the Aslan's check structure do tend to make it appear a little more equine than feline. Something odd about it.

The Aslan is my gripe about the cover too, but that is due to the fact that you don't find many Aslan in the Gateway region. That's my screwup though because I didn't catch it and have it changed to something else before I approved it for coloring.

:(

When you say that "you don't find many Aslan in the Gateway region," you can certainly imply that there are at least SOME Aslan there (i.e. not a lot, maybe a few thousand among the billions of sophonts).

For instance, the the campaign we're playing in Gateway, my character is an Aslan scientist who is on a research mission aboard a large science vessel. She hasn't seen another Aslan since she left her homeworld for college, eight years earlier! (That is, until she meets a rather handsome male who's a staff sergeant for the ship's security forces...Grooooooowwwwl. ;) )

Exactly. There are some to be found, but not in any significant numbers.

With the Aslan on the cover it one might assume that they are more common in Gateway than they actually are. No biggie, just would have prefered to catch it and replace it with one of the more common aliens from the region.

Hehehe...

Beware of Vargr wielding swords, they might just use them!

Cool cover by the way. Hopefully I'll have a job and money to buy it upon publication.

Waiting on the last of the interior artwork. I hope to have it at the printer for proofs by Monday at the latest. Once the proofs are approved it should be but a couple of weeks to get them in stock here.

That (and the donkey-like ears) is pretty much why I thought it was a K'Kree - plus the fact that you're more likely to see K'Kree than Aslan over there.

Very nice. Did not like the T20 cover much at all. Too busy too unfocused too many things going on at once.

However, this is really good. It captures the feel of Traveller without getting so busy with laser shots and ships taking off and a huge futuristic city that your eye fails to focus on anything.

In all honestly, this is the cover for T20 I would have liked to have seen.

Really Great!

I was thinking of putting in a preorder for it at the FLGS. I can't connect to Alliance Games' website at the moment so can't verify what they have for a stock number. Is the stock #otu001 for the PDF going to be used for the printed product as well?

As for the cover...I'd really have to take a look at it on the final book. On my screen it looks a little crowded although I do like the background. Mysterious planets and a starship are great and are nicely done. For some reason I was getting a ST VI vibe with the foreground which isn't a bad thing. The Vargr with the somewhat fancy sword though gave me a Werewolf (RPG) flashback which *is* a bad thing.

And I'd rather have a Hiver,K'Kree, or a Elder Thing I mean live food eater (Beree?) than the Aslan. Perhaps for a Traveller's Aide now. Live food yip lap dog optional but fun.
