Giving Away Traveller Material

This is my first post here and I hope it's in the right place. I have been a lurker for several years.

I'm a bit of a pack rat when collecting things, and Traveller is no exception. It's no time to start pruning my things. I've got quite a few things for Traveller, all in good shape, that I have to get rid off. I'll post a list in a few days once I've got everything together.

I'm willing to give it away, but I'm not willing to pay the shipping and handling. At this point I would like to know the best way of handlingf this kind of situation.

Thank you.

I wouldn't give anything away until you have researched its ebay value. There are some items that can fetch very high prices.

I would be willing to accept some of your stuff if you're still interested in giving it away. ;)

The best priced stuff is *usually* DGP and the Keith Brothers FASA material for Traveller.

HOWEVER, if you really want a good home for it, put me on the list of grogs waving too :)

Or maybe have a look on eBay for Charity Auctions and find an eBay community member who can set it up for you. You clear your stuff, your pick of charities gets the cash, and the buyers get the goodies and a good feeling for donating to a worthy cause. Win, win, win :)

If not, yeah, I'll be watching this for your list.

As for the best way, I guess you mean to make sure you get your money and the buyer's get their stuff? That's a bit tricky with little to go on trust wise. Again eBay offers some protection for both parties but if you're not registered already it can be tough as a new user to know what to do. But again there's helpful folks on the eBay community boards. On the Canada boards anyway, and Yanks are welcome to pick our brains there too :) Just some of our advice may not apply to specifics of the US side.

Put it on ebay starting at $.01 or a nickel.

Notify the buyer you need to pay shipping and handling of (some fixed amount), and that you'll ship when it clears.

Many ship via priority mail, and make the cost of priority mail the shipping cost.

I'd also advise, make some money off of it, look through auctions to see what things are selling for.

Judges Guild Stuff: Varies, usually a few bucks, too many people sell these in bulk to make them rare.

Old complete LBB or starter Traveller box = 10.00 beat up. but sometimes more.

Old LLBs 3 - 5 $ individual. Lots of 10 got for 10.00 to 20.00 and up. Depends. Seems like robots and Mer prince are prized.

Old JTAS 3-10.00 per in some cases..

Ancient FASA Freedonian Aerospace Agency (Pre FAntaSimulations Associates) Deckplans: so rare, name your price. I have a few, I'll never part with them.

Grand Survey, 40.00 up to 100+
Grand Census, similar, slightly less.

Imperium 30.00 Mint condition, 50.00

Invasion Earth: 50-60.

Azhanti HL Pretty much 40 to name your price, depending on condition.

IG Reprint books average 25-30, Marc (Onlooker1) still sells these, I think.

Original Traveller art, varies too much. Original WH Keith, I'd pay real money for. It goes for a lot.

Traveller novels: Varies, I know some FASA guys who wrote them are still selling them. I bought some J P Swycaffer recently, too. Definitely Traveller feel.

The Traveller Book: 10 - 30.00 depending on condition. I bought one mint from onlooker 1, It's in plastic, which I plan to sell in 2027. Or not. ;)

None of the above are authoritarian or exact, but what I've seen... oh. last 6 months.

Look around a few weeks to a month you'll get a feel for it.

Good luck.

yeah, you should sell it, either for yourself or charity

I would be interested in seeing what Keith brothers goodies you have (any Cargonaut books?:.)

If you have something I want, I'd ask you to mail it then find out where you live (city) and look at the USPS web site to get an idea of the ballpark for postage.

Then I'd probably just send you cash (folded up and carefully hidden) so it would minimize the involvement (it's also liable to be a small enough fee that it won't matter).

I remember trying to get someone to send me a $5 bill for postage once, and it was like I was asking them to mail a $1000 bill AND MARK THE ENVELOPE: CASH INSIDE!!! in large font, bright red print.

Ya know, I've seen those envelopes that have, like, a blue, mottled interior so folks can't see what's inside. Stuff them in to a folded bit paper and it's even better.

Even moreso, how many millions of dollars go out in Birthday cards everyday.

I don't recommend taping bills to post cards, but most problems for handling cash through the mail is the fact that if you send it to a business, the person the money is for most likely isn't the one opening the letter, not so much bored postal employees lighting letters looking for loose cash money.

Mind, I also mailed my rent once with a quarter taped to the envelope, because I didn't have a stamp -- I wasn't evicted, so I assume it worked.
