Grav-carrier

I was looking through some of the online stories from Analog, at Free Speculative Fiction Online, and came across the following phrase in a James Schmitz story.

A grav-carrier came floating down through the dark air toward them

The story is "Sour Note on Palayata", which appeared in Analog/Astounding, November 1956

Yes - and many other Traveller terms first appeared in Sci-Fi stories in the 1950s & 60s.

I am aware of that, I was just surprised to see it that early. I probably should check when some of the Paratime Stories were written, as it looks like Piper was writing those of Astounding in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The Little Fuzzy series, Space Viking, and Cosmic Computer date from the 1960s.
