Greetings citizens

After a long absence I've returned, and thinking of getting back into Traveller (haven't played it in many years, and did try the T20 Lite rules briefly, thinking of picking up some pdfs or reprints).

Anyhow, hope to make some new friends, find some old ones and do some gaming (avid online and f2f gamer).

So drop me a line if you're local and would like to do some gaming or even if you're not as I do play online a good bit.

I don't remember Lando being an archmage in Star Wars...

*lol* I hear that often. Actually, back in 1980 when I created Lando for D&D, I was only 7 yrs old and had trouble coming up with names. I did take his name from the famous Star Wars character and stuck the title of Archmagi on as that was the 9th lvl named title for 1st edition AD&D. I'm an avid Star Wars gamer/fan and collector and used the name for my now long retired pc and online alias ever since. I even ran a BBS back in the 90s.

Lando has many great stories I could share. However, thank you for the amusing, but I assume friendly welcome.

Yes, welcome aboard, Lando. There's a lot of great people here, so feel free to post away. You'll be surprised at the wealth of assistance you can find here.

With Regards,
Flynn

Welcome Lando!

Watch out for random Hivers with screwdrivers though!

I'd like to apply for the position of "Not so great" so I have something to aspire to. Can I?

Welcome to COTI Lando

My advice to you is this:

Get the CD set of rules first. At $35, you're getting access to the print material, albeit, via computer PDF format. Then, get your hands on those books you want specifically for what they contain that you desire - which the CD will show you is available. Now if you're a collector in the first place, then... get them all - let your wife sort them out (oops, bad paraphrase from kill them all, let God sort them out) ;)

"We are dreamers, shapers, singers, and makers. We study the mysteries of laser and circuit, crystal and scanner, holographic demons and invocations of equations. These are the tools we employ and we know many things."
Elric, The Geometry of Shadows

Maybe Lando was secretly a technomage?
....

And of course, welcome to Lando (archmage or mere prestidigitator, no matter). COTI is a fun place. I've been away for a while but I'd forgotten how much I missed the place and all the familiar names. Now I just have to get back to reading the TML and my life will once again have true meaning... :0)

stay away from the Flatulence thread Kaladorn *snicker*

I'm amazed that the thread has generated over 50+ posts and I've had to excersize major restraint not to tell at least some of the participants "Um, civility?"

It's been fun meeting ya'll, reading threads, digging around in files and relearning Traveller. I even bid on a couple of books on Ebay. Hoping someone who gets the CT CD will post a good review, then I'll probably order it.

I'm hoping my CT CD will show up today. Marc said they were being mailed yesterday and today, so it's a long shot at best - but I have tomorrow off.

I like your posts to the LARP - great foreshadowing - and welcome to the COTI from a another newbee. Steve B (Aka Kahn in the LARP - now the 2nd newest play by post player!)

Thanks for the welcome and I'm a long time avid online gamer (I run about a half dozen rpgs and play in over a dozen.. including live games on OpenRPG).

Let me know what you think of the CT CD since that's the system I got introduced to Traveller with back in the 80s.

Got my copy of the CT CD in the mail today! Of the files I've looked at so far, the fast majority are good quality. The only exception I've noted is Adventure A10 Safari Ship. The adventure was scanned in with too small of pages. While the result is readable at about 150% in Acrobat Reader, it is a little pixellated.

I'm not an errata expert, so I don't know if any of that has been fixed or not.

It contains the LBB's, The Traveller Book, The Adventures, The Double Adventures, The Alien Modules, several other modules and the board games - so it's pretty comprehensive.

Some scans could have been better, but none of the files have been difficult to read - and for just over $40 (with shipping) the CD is a bargain - particularly for someone like me that did not have the CT ruleset yet.

Steve B

Thanks for the review, Steve. Good news! Hopefully mine will pop through the letter box any day now ...
