GRiP Mapping with MapTool

Berg

SOC-13
The GRiP map has been one of the rather disappointing features in GRiP, but with the help of another application this aspect of GRiPing may breath new life ;)

It's an application called MapTool

MapTool is an elegant graphical tool to share maps (images) and map data (drawings, markers, grid placement) in a client/server fashion between multiple players.
All the advantages of the GRiP Chat/character sheet features will be supplemented by the smooth visual interaction on MapTool.
The best of both worlds

It's Java based and it is FREE!

Here is a screen shot of the interface...

Here is what a GM's screen may look like with both GRiP and MapTool being used...

A few of us are testing the performance under gaming conditions and will report our findings, but if anyone is interested then post comments and questions below

Looks Good

I personally don't see the point. The Map in GrIp is very functional. Though creating maps in GrIp is a bear, you can use any software and import it. It was never a problem when running my campaign using Grip. (THe incessant Tab flipping, the buggy software and the inability of allowing a character to reconnect without stopping the game were reasons I went looking elsewhere.) If you are going to update Grip, then you need to rework the GM interface, the server software and a general bug fix. No need to mess with one of the parts that actually works.

Yes! What could be done with that
They could then release "official" Traveller adventures, products, etc. to go with it
