MGT Only: Help Understanding Trade Routes Chart...

Can someone please help me understand the two-column Trade Route chart on page 169 of the Core Rulebook?

In order to share a trade route, does one world need to match the qualities of Column 1 (C1) and the other world the qualities of Column 2 (C2)? Or can a trade route exist between two worlds that match the qualities of C1 only?

Does a planet with a quality in the first row of C1 need to match (exactly) a world with the qualities in the the same row of C2? Or can the first row of C1 be matched with the qualities in the second row of C2?

Also, does the world using C2 need to match all of the qualities in that row, or just one of them?

I think I am just over thinking this chart.

It's more flavour than anything else, but my intent was that you matched the first row of C1 with the first row of C2, and the second row with the second row. So, Industrial or High Tech worlds import raw materials and export finished goods in trade with Asteroids, Deserts, Ice-Caps and Non-Industrial Worlds, while High Pop/Rich worlds import food and luxuries from Agricultural, Garden or Water Worlds.

Excellent. Thank you. And was the intent also that the planet used in the second column would have all of those qualities, or as few as one of them?

As a side note, if by "my intent was" you mean to imply you were responsible (at least in part) for the Mongoose Traveller core rulebook, you did a superb job. If I were to make a list of the most profoundly useful, self contained, single-volume core rulebooks of all time, I would honestly place the Mongoose Traveller Core Rulebook in at least the top 3 (if not #1). Not just blowin' smoke. Seriously. Well done.

Just one trait from the list is enough. The more trade routes the better.

(And thank you very much. I wrote the rulebook, but that was very much standing on the shoulders of giants whilst wearing stilts - it was easy to be very tall as long as I didn't fall off :)).
