House Rules / Modifications

Chaos

SOC-12
Post any interesting house rules or modifications, additional feats etc you are using for T20 here.

I´ve changed the gravity adapation feats.
Now, there is Heavy-G/Low-G Adaptation, which allows the character to operate without penalties in any substantial gravity - basically, any body with a size digit of 1 and above. (There just aren´t enough worlds with Heavy-G to make Heavy-G Adaptation on its own worthwhile, especially if it rules out Improved Zero-G/Low-G Adaptation)
The other feats have been changed into Zero-G/Micro-G Adaptation, plus the Improved version thereof. "Micro-G" is what you have on bodies of size 0 and S, Zero-G is exactly what it says on the tin. Also, the different "paths" of gravity adaptation feats no longer rule each other out, since they are no longer "opposite" but different developments.

Also, since T20 uses Dexterity instead of Strength for melee attacks, I have come up with a feat to replace Weapon Finesse: Brute Strength. You need Strength 13+ to take it; it allows you to use the Strength modifier in place of the Dexterity modifier with all melee weapons except the foil and any electrical shock/stun weapons (too brittle), and (since melee weapons aren´t as important in T20 as in D20, so that alone wouldn´t be as powerful) in place of the Charisma modifier for Intimidate skill checks.

There is a feat already called Savage Fighting that uses STR instead of Dex. As far as Heavy G, IMTU, I have Heavy-G as part of the Endurance Feat. Your right there are not enough Heavy G worlds to really qualify for it's own feat.

Change

How a change that instead of a lame Base Attack Bonus, using skill points for skills with weapons for attacking?

The one house rule I've decided on at this stage is booting the gunnery skill and using BAB modified by Intelligence or Education rather than Dexterity in its place (I'm borrowing this idea from Star Wars Saga Ed). For this to work well the navy class needs to have a higher BAB, because otherwise the Marines can shoot the ship's lasers better than the Navy guys. Which leads to some raised eyebrows I would think... However, even if the Marine has a higher BAB than Navy, the Navy guy can take Martial Training and have a comparable BAB, and the Navy character is likely to have a higher Int or Edu score than the Marine.

On the other hand, I might ditch the 'service classes' and replace it with a generic 'Soldier' class, which have different customisation options in feat/skill selection and progression depending on what service the character joins. In my setting, there won't be an Imperium, Imperial Navy, or Marine Corps.

Several US warships had one or more guns manned by marines... and the marine artillerists generally were as good or better than their naval counterparts.

Also, in canon, there is a reference to marine guns vs navy guns in Canon as well.

What you do is create a Gunner class... Take the Navy, up the BAB, down the skills.

We discussed that during playtest...

My group prefered a more action oriented "Cinematic" style of play, so we added 1 point per level to lifeblood. We found this worked well and allowed for more shoot 'em up action without getting too out of hand.

We also liked comabt to be a little more chaotic and rolled initiatve every round. (Changed the improved initative feat to +2 not +4)

I like that rule. Also, I'd make initiative a skill that can be increased, inspired by SW Saga Ed.

Hell, I'd consolidate a lot of the skills in general.

Someone a few years ago posted stats for Droyne as Small sized. I think that's a good one.
