How long until the license sunsets?

I'm sure he means the Traveller license from Marc. I don't know, only Hunter and Marc probably know for sure, but I've heard some talk about a year or two left on it.

I thought it was done when D&D 4e came out. Wasn't that the end of the d20 licensing?

No. He can just go OGL on that, no harm no foul, no changes needed other than stickering over the logo. Even that isn't needful.

Further, unless they explicitly terminated it CASE BY CASE, D20 is still in force. Hunter hasn't mentioned a cease and desist. (Nor have any other d20 publishers)

BTW, the 4E clauses killing d20 STL only apply if one is using 4E's GSL.

Even more, the 4E clause is on a product line by product line basis. Doesn't do Hunter much good, but for several others, it does. Several companies are keeping one or more d20 lines, and converting another that's more mainstream.

I had the impression that Hunter has the T20 licence from Marc for basically as long as he wants it.

Mongoose certainly didn't give that impression.

GT is the one that was exempted from the requirement Marc sunset the license.
