Most Secret: Imperial Report
From: IISS, District 268. To: Archduke Norris
Subject: Astron Project
Ostensibly a long range developmental project to establish colonies at a distance from the Sword Worlds Confederation, for the purpose of ensuring the survival of the national ideology of the Sword World's. Intelligence to date would seem to indicate that the Astron Project has no aggresive intentions, and it's membership tends to be more-or-less harmless idealists, and no more warlike in nature than is normal in Sword World's culture. The project does not seem to be detrimental to Imperial interests. In fact it seems to be deliberatly intended to avoid a future clash. In fact their are possible benefits to the Imperium, including the increase in trade as well as the establishment of a state that might be a future rival to the Zhodinis. However the source of the sponsership is unknown, and there are similar things that bear watching.

Campaign: The new Sword Worlds book gives a campaign based on the "Astron Project". What I am proposeing is an extention of this campaign. It would probably be best run on e-mail.
It would actually be two campaigns. Neither campaigns players would be aware of the other at first; possibly not until the end.
Campaign A would be the "Astron Project" much as described in campaign "100 Parsects" in "Sword Worlds".
Campaign B would be a scout/spy campaign with a mission of keeping an eye on the Astron Project
The two "subcampaigns" would be connected by having one or more of the PC's be a spy assigned to observe Campaign A, and send reports back to the Scouts in Campaign B.
Other elaborations could be dreamed up including agents from the Zhos, the Darrians, etc, as well as various connections to a numerous variety of things.
It could even be a supercampaign with connections from diversefied Mercantile, Mercenary, millitary proper, political, etc. campaigns. Possible variations could include the ubiquitous Vargr corsairs, as well as competition from Ihaiti Aslan bands with roughly simmilar motives. And none of the subcampaign PC's need know what is going on until the very end, unless the GM wishes.
