Jtas Cd-rom

Quick queries:

I'm thinking about getting the JTAS CD-ROM, but would like a listing of what's on it.

Are ALL issues 1-33 or were there more?

Are all issues on the disk or are there multiple JTAS disks from FFE?

Have there been any problems with the contents of the JTAS disk(s) as those with the CT CD-ROM? Missing pages? Bad scans? Upside-down scans? Other?

Thanks in advance!

:D

It's a while since I used mine, but as I recall there were a few problems. Can't remember what they were, though.

IIRC the CD includes all the normal JTAS and those included in Challenge up to issue 34. However, I think there may have been more JTAS articles in later issues of Challenge that are not on the CD.

Others with more familiarity can probably help you more. :)

As far as I could find it's all scanned ok, except that some scans are across 2 pages so it makes it difficult to print out. No rhyme or reason for this, it seems kinda random - maybe it's how the staple removal went or something.

It's worth the money - lots of great stuff in there, it was a real trip down memory lane, too. I remember how much we all looked forward to each issue coming out. The WAR! issue really stirred things up.

It also has the original High Guard rules spread out over a few early issues, good adventuring/referee advice, and a few things that eventually made it into some of the rules. A lot of fluff in the later issues, though, like "Aslan philosophy" and similar. You could tell they were heading the genre in the Trav2300 direction and CT was petering out.

Hmm ... the contents use to be listed on the FFE website - I just checked, and they're not anymore. I wonder why that is?

Edit: This was a copy text from the index page, so it got set as links which, unless you happen to have the JTAS in your D: drive, will fail. Sorry about that!

Special Supplement 3 Missiles is included with issue 21 - and it has a cloured border cover rather than the original gray.

It sure would be nice to get all of the Challenge Magazine 37+ stuff for MegaTraveller on CD as well. It makes me :( to see all of the articles listed in the INDEX file that are after Challenge 36 (and not on the MT CD ROM).
