June 2007

I am really hoping for new Twilight reprints to be coming down the pipe. I realize that the above is old news...if you search his site well enough but my heart leaped for joy when I saw the supplements are meant to be not rules specific finally bringing balance to the Traveller universe.

Maybe he was waiting for Longhorn to come out...

Seriously, if that's his target date, that's good news, but a lot to do in the coming year.

I prefer to think that MWM is actually READING the boards from time to time...

Apparently, details for playtest sandboxes are being worked out, and alien chargen may be the first thing to be set forth.

I do know for a fact that nothing is set in stone until T5 goes to the printer.

Pray sir, please enlighten this poor soul as to the meaning of your words?

I'll be opening a T5 playtest area in the Moot this week where new material will start being posted as I get it from Marc.

On a tangential point, it was mentioned some time before that T5 would not be viable with both GT and T20 in circulation.

What does this bode for the two current, active forms of Traveller? Does one (or both) of them have to die for T5 to be launched?

And there will be new playtest material on Traveller5.com for material Marc wants placed there. There may be some overlap with COTI, but each may also have unique content.

I also have some leading questions posted there, as of yesterday.

</font>[/QUOTE]Since it is happening in the Moot, doesn't that make the Traveller5.com playtest idea moot?

I can't speak on GT, but we plan to continue with T20. We will also begin to support T5 (as we do CT) and continue to support CT as well.

The Traveller5 playtest forum and file area are open in the Moot. Posted in the file area is a 3-page Vision for Traveller Characters PDF from Marc.

One more question on this line, if you don't mind: Does a relatively near future release date for T5 mean that CT-Revised will never see the light of day? (sniff)

Content is going to be rules-neutral, meaning sourcebooks and campaigns and such should play nice with T20, CT, and T5.

This means that publishing efforts by QLI or FFE will benefit the other as well. It also means that they can coordinate release schedules (if necessary). Takes a bit of the burden off of both of them. It will peripherally (at least) benefit GT, too.

Never say never.

I think he's admitted as much on the website. "Coincidental", he calls it. ;)

For the 30th anniversary, I wonder if he also has planned something like Wizards did. A nice coffee table book with many authors citing their inspiration/persperation from Traveller.

I tried to get something like this going for the 25th but was politely turned down...however, if Marc would approach them perhaps we might get a book out of it. Plus things were badly timed for the big two five and RPGs seem to like the number 30 better.

Unfortunately I'd have to say yes CT+ is probably shelved with T5 releasing in 2007. I can't see doing it with T5 out in 2007. But circumstances may change and other possibilities may arise.
