Lava Made™

Wherever there is open volcanic activity, and sometimes where there's not, Lava Made™ Corporation moves in modular fabricating facilities to use the Lava to make parts and materials from high-temperature molds and gravitics. Citizens think Lava Made™ just makes bricks, but they have probably made more than a few parts in your Starship.

For a free catalog, just send an X-Mail to: Lava Made Corp. at your closest Subsector Capital. A Data Wafer Catalog will be sent to your nearest X-Boat Route World in 5-8 weeks.

Get the best made parts - get Lava Made™ parts!

Sounds like something I'd used as background.

Mining operation using fusion guns for excavation, with grav-contained conveyor tubes to bring the superheated plasma blasted loose up to the surface for processing. Do some high-tech separation process to the plasma to take out the good stuff, then spread the remainder on an open field to make a basalt landing pad for starships.

Three hooks into an adventure built around this:
1. By measuring how large the landing field is, and its depth, it's possible to calculate how big a tunnel they've dug. It doesn't match the officially claimed size.
2. Perhaps they've missed something valuable in the waste stream. The sparkle of Zuchai Crystal fragments in the pavement, perhaps?
3. More to the point, they don't care because they aren't actually separating stuff out. Check the refinery building closely...

So,
4. What are the ships that are allegedly exporting the mine's output really doing, then?
5. What is the real purpose of the tunnels they're digging?
