I recently picked up some copies of Classic Traveller books and noticed that the covers don't have the product code number in the upper right corner as shown on most pictures of covers. Are these earlier printings/versions?

Here's the ones I have listed with what's in the upper right corner of the cover:

Supplement 1: 1001 Characters ($3.98)
Adventure 1: The Kinunir ($4.98)
Adventure 3: Twilight's Peak ($4.98 with 'No. 314' below the price)
Double Adventure 1: Shadows/Annic Nova ($4.98)
Double Adventure 2: Across the Bright Face/Mission on Mithril ($4.98)

Yes, the printings without product code numbers in the top-right corner are early printings AFAIK. I have some duplicates, and older printings don't have numbers while newer printings do.

What about size i've copies of scouts (337 1983), robots (344 1986) and merchant prince (343 1985) which are all slightly taller (about 1 cm) than the lbb's and all printed in america!

I can confirm the size difference if you're talking about UK versions. I've got both the US and UK versions of Book 4. The title and copyright pages are different. There is no number on the UK cover, and it says Games Workshop instead of GDW.

Who knows if there were different UK printings with subtle differences like the US printings?

Was there a later printing of the Spinward Marches (Supplement 3) either in the US or UK, featuring proper map symbols like in Supplement 10 (Solomani Rim)? The one I have seems to be an early version just showing travel zones and jump routes, with no further legend symbols (gas giants, bases etc). It's rather simplistic and dull compared to the pretty Solomani Rim one. I've a feeling that once I saw a more detailed Marches one, not just the fold-out map but the actual booklet...

It's possible. I have the same vague memory and was a bit surprised when I got the big floppy reprint a few years back and found the maps rather primitive. That has a reproduction of the 5th printing of 14 so one of the later ones may have been updated. Or I may just have confused it with the subsector maps of my old well used copy of The Spinward Marches campaign. Or maybe one of the JTAS issues did an update?

I know a full color map, complete with all the bells and whistles came with Deluxe Traveller (all the world stats were in the Book 0), and an updated version of the same came with the MT boxed set (with stats in the GMs book I think..). Aside from that, I don't ever remember the LBB version of the Spinward Marches as ever been more than VERY basic.

I posted the map I made of the Spinward Marches in the Imperial Gallery which I was working on for a Cyberboard gamebox. Someone pointed out that I had missed placed possession of one of the Sword Worlds, forgotten which now.

I updated my Spinward Marches supplement by hand to include all the gas giant, trade etc symbols and the territory zone boundaries as well in colour. Makes it look far better.

Buy the CT CD, there are like five different versions of the Spinward marches on it. There is travellermap.com as well.

The version of S3 on the CD is 1st printing, with just locations, names, zones, and routes.

A later printing included GG's (I've got same in dead tree somewhere).

I have S3 in 1st printed version, even some worlds grew interdiction, like Zeta 2, which doesn't make a lot of sense, with them being outside of the Imperium. However, I am talking about the Traveller Adventure, Spinward Marches Campaign, etc. I haven't looked at all the maps in those books and modules, but the maps may be updated.
