For my still ongoing mapping project I have to
find ideas, hints and inspiration for the iconographic
symbol for the Julians.

As I remember it is the spartan helmet ?!
Or is this the symbol of the star legion?

Out of curiosity, did you generate the background of that map with TravellerMap.com?

If so, I'm in the process of adding shaded background support which would simplify things for you. Other stylistic suggestions are welcome.

Spartan Helmet sounds right. Someone with access to the Julian Protectorate article in Challenge Magazine could confirm.
