Merging of Time lines 2300 and CT

I like the idea of merging the timelines, and if you either have J-2 or such, you can have the First Imperium contacting the Terrans instead of the Kafer. I loved the history and starship tech, hated the game system (I use Cyberpunk 2020 instead.)

Could the Kafer's be modified to be a minor race who were a client of the Ziru Sirka and who were later anhilated in a pre - First Interstellar War conflict by Terran NBC weapons (hence the growing reticence to use them against the Vilani)?

Wow, I like the idea! Somewhere after the 1st war. Yes they could be developed as slave/serf soldiers for the Ziru Sirka.

Considering the number of fans of both systems, I am suprised that there was not more input on this topic.

I'm a fan of both systems. When I first saw the ads for Traveller:2300, I thought it was a new setting for the Interstellar War era. However, the underlying assumptions for both are different enough that merging them is problematic. Everything from the aliens to FTL drive tech and vehicle tech is different. Even the tineline itself is off, as the Terran Federation of CT contacted the Vilani in, what, the 2100's?
CT and 2300 are very different universes, lending themselves to different styles of play.
I suppose you could merge them, with 2300 Earth being TL 12, no gravitics or jump drive. But I just don't see the point.
