MgT die roll tool for Windows

What version is this intended for? it says that I am missing a file, MSVCP71.dll.
Sorry about that. I wrote the program for Windows XP/7. But you are the first to mention the missing file. So now I know it doesn't come installed from Windows. Download again from the link above to get the .dll now included. Or you can download .NET 1.1 from Microsoft. I'm not using any installer that would automatically copy those files to your drive.

If it still does not see the file, copy it to your C:\windows\system32 folder.

I think this dll is part of the MS C++.NET 2003 redistribution set (although it is not .NET itself). If the dice roller was built using that toolset then you might be missing a merge module. If it wasn't then the dependency might come from a third party tool where the author did not provide the proper setup. (Other than that you might not have legal redistribution rights.)

So did the program run for you?

Yup. On my Windows 7 main desktop ... no problems at all. Even the sound works perfectly. (But I wouldn't expect to encounter this missing dll issue as I have installed multiple versions of Visual Studio and a slew of other development tools.)

I've also just tried it on my MS Surface Pro (with Windows 8). It functions okay but is a little cramped. The window looks to be sizable but isn't.

It doesn't support Windows 8. The Qt GUI is just for Windows 95/98, NT, 2000, XP, Vista, and 7. Maybe work is being done to update it for Windows 8 and phone GUIs. I'm more of a mainframe guy for running my Traveller apps on. They have to be ruggedized though, and survive things like nukes outside their bomb shelters. The usual EMP stuff.

The next beta I'm releasing soon has a smaller footprint and Traveller-ish looking font, along with images of the dice results.

ADDED:
I see that QT even detected an untested Windows it was running on. Cool.

I'm running Xubuntu 13.10 32-bit with Wine on a Dell Mini9. This worked perfectly, sound and all; little cramped due to the small screen. Audrey from AT&T voice lab. Good choice!
