Minatures?

Does anyone know if there will be any miniatures to go along with the other T20 products? I for one would like to have miniatures of ships like the Free Trade and Scout/Courier. Also, have ship miniatures ever been produced for any previous versions of Traveller? Thanks!

Not that I know of. No Hiver plushes either. <add POUTs as needed here> :( ;_;

Martian Metals made 15mm figures as well as some vehicles (15mm as well or 1/285?) and Grenadier made some 25mm (true 25mm I assume) figures during CT. RAFM did some figs and ships during TNE. The ships at least look like they'd work for other Traveller OTU periods.

RAFM is the only one of those companies still around AFAIK but haven't made the TNE minis in years.

has listings and some pics

There have been several threads on CotI on using other miniatures for use in Traveller games.

RAFM is still around, but I believe under a different name these days (Red Fox, or something like that). The ships they produced were updated version of the original CT designs. In all likelihood, the original master molds would still be in their archives. Production molds can either still be in their "retired" molds area, or been shredded.

The only reason I know this is because I use to sculpt for RAFM between 1990 and 1996 - handled the TNE, Mekton and DP9 lines, plus a few fantasy ones.

I still sculpt, but just for fun these days.

ps - thanks for that link... looking at the old packaging and minis brings back some great memories...

There's a store up in Canada, called The Sentry Box, that still has some of the ship and character minis from RAFM that were released with Traveller the New era. They have a website which you can order from and they are uber-reliable.

url is http://www.sentrybox.com/

Hope this helps.

No Hiver plushes perhaps, but there's a Shoggoth plush that does a good impression of a Hiver's head stalk, if you squint a bit and wave it around on the end of an arm...

:D

(it doesn't look remotely like a Shoggoth should, ironically).

seems like they're a Sliverfox company now

Considering they still make Call of Cthulhu miniatures which seem to be a mix of older molds and more recent ones and have reissued some of the Space 1889 minis* it's quite possible they still have the TNE molds unless they had to destroy them.

* or at least there made some about 2-3 years ago again and commisioned a few new figs

/me makes note to pick one up from Pegasus or Chaosium at Origins this year for yearly Cthuloid plush purchase!

Oooooo. Well not having an authentic Shoggoth plush is likely.a.good.thing . The mandatory SAN loss alone... :D

IMTU Kamsii makes quite a chunk of creds on Hiver plushies. Asu used to work there for a bit. Think Westworld meets Disneyland on a planetary scale and add a touch of <Banaaradaaguu> Illuminati <Banaaradaaguu> and "Flair" from Office Space. A fun place to visit...

IIRC that was a bit of a one off deal brokered by the fans of the game, kind of a "cast on demand" deal. They organized and showed enough orders to make it profitable for the company.

I thought about trying that for the Traveller minis but then there was a (failed) attempt to make some new (and far and away better minis). So those plans went on hold.

The website for that is still up, here:

http://travellermini.org/

and if you do a search on these boards you can dig up a lot of chatter about it, I would provide the links but I'm trying to juggle a bit too much right now and have to run again

Seriously, I can recommend them too, fair prices and good service. I guess I'll have to be happy with the fleet I already have

True Swordsage, I'm very happy.

Its just that a couple days ago I started thinking I might make a chess set of Traveller ships. I think somebody did this and sold them a while back (Loren?) and I almost bought it.

I have enough to make one side of pieces, small craft for pawns and merchant ships for the others. I'd like to make the other side warships but I'd need a few more ships. Anyway, just some idle thoughts, I'm too busy at the moment to pursue that distraction anyway.

Far Trader,

I would love to see the set once you complete it, if you so should choose. I think it'd be pretty cool.

Looking forward to it,
Flynn

I went to the site and was able to get some of those miniatures. I got packs of Free Traders, Modular Cutters, and Shuttles, along with a Mercernary Cruiser and a Subsidized Merchant with launch. Thanks again! :D

Ah, so you're the one that beat my order to get the last of certain miniatures. Ah well..at least I got some of them.

My thanks to Swordsage for the site.

I love the ship minis (one of my gamers has a few of them), but I must admit that I'd prefer more character minis. *sigh*

I'll be checking out the Star Wars mini sets for things I can swipe for use in my T20 games. Until then, I've got the Cardboard Heroes by SJG, and will look about for other minis I can access locally.

Looking for PC minis,
Flynn

I'm going 15mm, especially since I've have a few from many years ago and got other Martian Metals figures recently. I just got some Peter Pig figures last week. *sigh* Lots of miniature work ahead for me. Looking at the Toyota Truck mini, it looks like HO scale might work for vehicles to go with 15mm figures. HO people are a little larger than the 15mm ones.

The ships came today, that was quick.
They look good.

But, more work for me. :( ;)
