Just read through it. Some good design stuff. However, there are a couple of illogical design elements as well.

It's pretty much the same content as the larger HG... the buddy of mine with the pocket edition hasn't found anything different from my PDF copy of the large one.

Biggest issue I have with it is the lack of a power points design axis resulting in some wonky issues with energy weapons. (EG: A 100Td ship can mount a 50Td Meson bay on a PP C, but a 600 tonner can't even mount energy weapons in turrets...)

Other than little issues like that, it's the best and most useful book in the line after the core.

It's pretty clear that it is for ships of 1000 tons plus. Not smaller ships.

Better go read page 48. 48 is explicitly for non-capital ships.

"is limited by displacement/1000, multiplied by the power plant rating number (rounded down, but with a minimum of one)"

Pretty obvious that it means for those ships that would have sufficient tonnage. Unless, someone thinks that the designers believe a 100 ton starship can have a 50 ton bay? If so, they can present their WORKABLE designs.
