I than working on than pre-imperium camg set between 100 to 20 years before the official founding of the 3rd Imperium. I than changeing the Anagathics in the traveller universe from than monthly pill to two type
of drugs. The first one Immortality Beta which arrest ageing at 21 psysio-years, reducing the partient's age by 1 yeasr per month if he is over the 21 terran year limit. Once administered immortality Beeta remains effective for 20 Terran years. Cost = cr 500,000 plus if approve for treatment.

The second is Immortality Alpha which only work on pure Vilani(at least 75 % blood). This anti-agathic stop aging at 21 physic-year as well. Once administered the recipient will not age at all for an estimated 1000 years. Resistance to most diseases is total. Healing rate are tripied over normal ( but not for medical slow drug). The recipient also have a 90% change of regenerateion 1
minutes after death total heal, unless the brain has been damaged or the body has been totally burned, disintegrated, etc. This drug is very rare and hard to make only 10 doses are make on Ariea in the core subsector from rare herd and plants. Cost
2,500,000 cr it approval for teatment. I got this from Space Opera from Fantasy Games Unlimited which
I have. I wish they can reprint this game also.

Does anyone have any comment about this.

Hmmm interesting ideas

Its not really an idea i'd use myself. The 3rd Imp is more advanced than the previous government or so it seems and having those kinda drugs running around would take away the great line of emporers the 3rd Imperium has seen. The 20 year drug seems alot but the 1000 year Vilani drug seems way off the board.

Saying that though it does open up a whole background of a well and truely stagnated empire slowly being crushed under the weight of a slightly unhinged Emporer that foundered it 1000's of years ago.

Hmmm.... You have me thinking about it now...

Hope i helped a little :D

I am saying this is how the Sylea surive the long night with a few key planet in other system to support then like Ariea Agriculture. Also the Vilami learn ancient secret and kept then secret. They learn
jump drive when they found than ancient site which they discover on one of their worlds they settle with
near light speed travel. These discorery where not alway isolate finding but of finding ancient knowlege. The anti-ageing drug both then only work than maxium of ten times. The Sylea use the first drug to keep key people with valubla skills alive longer to past then on to other.

The idea of an anti-aging drug is an excellent one as long as the drug does not disturb the balance of the game. The regeneration property would need to be carefully managed to prevent a character from becomming a diety or demon as the case may be. I have used anti-aging drugs in my campaign but limit them by making them have a high probability of the user developing a dependance on the drug which can lead to some interesting problems for the character. I have never used regeneration properties for the drug. Happy gaming

I found it is best to add some thing to your Traveller setting that isnot in the books. When Classic Traveller first came out there was than GM who rush to the selves to stop anyone from Traveller gameing material (like adventures and booket like the one on Robots and Aliens) as he didnot want the player's in his camg to have this material. He even try to stop me and I told him off I am not your gameing group and it you act this way I wouldnot want to be in it at all.

Actually, I would think that a regenerating character would not be so much a deity or demon as they would be a Troll. Maybe the drug could turn them ugly, too?

Looks like they still have Space Opera for sale.
I think they'd be either original warehouse copies or old reprints but should be in good condition considering and pretty cheap too.
Does anyone have any comment about this.
The Beta sounds fine the Alpha I would keep off the open market and either make it something like a "trade secret" or a secret society drug. Perhaps some of the ingredients are very rare and hard to find (only one planet) and/or the knowledge to make is only known to a few or is now lost.

Recommend the "Culture" books by Iain Banks for a recent look at the implications of such treatments and some fine reading.

Hum, have to tie this into my Vilani Death Cult (ala Book of the New Sun). They'd surely do anything to get their hands on the Alpha drug.
