New name for Chamax

Daddicus

SOC-13
My campaign is playing through the adventures The Chamax Plague and Horde. They've just been introduced to the Chamax. For those who don't remember, that's a Classic Traveller double-adventure (two adventures in one book). The Chamax look like spiders the size of great danes. And, there are a LOT of them.

Now, they were named Chamax by the crew of the Challenger, and that's what the book refers to them as.

But, one of the characters in my campaign has Animals-12. So, he decided he had a different name for them:

Furachnid

I think it's going to stick, at least in my campaign.

Cute. Go with that; the players bought into the scene and now own a bit of it.

I am still wondering what the *sophonts* call/called themselves. I've got word generation tables for them (link) , but none of the words really stuck with me yet.

Considering that the "sophonts" wiped out the predator of the Chamax, how about something like "You-Cee", for Unintended Consequence.

Ah, but they haven't figured that out yet. They're moving on to the next adventure, after rescuing the crew that remained. Little do they know ...

<evil, maniacal laughter>

*** Why Furachnid? Is it ok if I add that to the wiki entry? ***

The wiki can contain non-canon data and I like the sound of it.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

They're giant spider-like creatures with fur like tarantulas. So, our resident animal expert decided he would name them. Furry arachnids. Furachnid.

Tell him or her that they get a boost in Intelligence for that one. Nice.:cool:

Note: We need a "good job" smiley.

I'm still trying to figure out how to "officially" do something like that. D&D 5th Edition added an ability to reward seriously well-played role-playing. I'm hoping to come up with something for T5 as well.

But, an attribute bump is probably a little too valuable. Maybe my crew will come up with something.

Oh reward the character alright. Make the species name after the character, and put a juicy patronage contract with a Type L ship and everything-

they just have to go back to study the critter more.

:devil::rofl::devil:
