I havent played in some years and am trying to get up to speed. Could anyone tell me what FGMP/PGMP are? I know they are weapons of some kind, but havent downloader enough info on them. Thanx

FGMP is short for Fusion Gun, Man Portable - A high energy weapon powered by a backpack unit.

PGMP is short for Plasma Gun, Man Portable - Also a high energy weapon powered by a backpack unit.

I live around the "thriving" metropolis of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. And I really dont know of anyone one that is still active in gaming. I am currently disabled ( triple lumbar fusion with medical leave from work ) and found my old books and was interested in how the game has progressed in the past two decades.

Digging back in memory, a plasma weapon heats up hydrogen to a high energy state while a fusion weapon actually gets to the hydrogen fusion point before firing. The latter is like an open cycle fusion power plant.

If you're interested, there's a playtest group for those who've purchased the the CD-ROM beta for Traveller, 5th edition.

Otherwise, your "old books" should do fine. (Which ones are they?)

Books

I have an original Marc Miller "Travellar", I belive that it is now considered MMT or T4? and 1-3 of the Little Black Books. On my own I have been writting a little sci-fi novella, mixing alot of Travellar with some Shadow Run, CyberPunk and Gamma World for fun. (Doubtful that it will go anywhere but to my printer and be editited by me, and put into some box.)

I am interested in playing, I was looking into the PBP forum, but would greatly appreciate any and all wisdom that could save me from constantly searching posts for information or terms.
