Hi all:

I hereby nominate Liz Danforth to illustrate the new 1248 Milieu sourcebook to give a familiar but dark vision to Traveller...ok, maybe a shade of gray...

Liz Danforth, artist of Traveller of old and more recently check out the Twilight 2000 reprints for some of her work.

Her style would be excellent for new 1248 milieu book and she would be willing to do it for a price...

Her reply as promised, a while back...

hi --

First, please accept my apology for not writing back sooner. I'm a lousy correspondent and have no better excuse!

Thank you *very* much for your kind compliments on my artwork. I'd love to do work in the Traveller universe again; it was always a lot of fun. I can't say thank you *enough* for directing me to the QLI/RPGRealms website -- I had no idea the Traveller universe had been picked up again, much less by who. A freelance artist always hopes to hear about new markets
We'll just have to see what comes of it.

Again, thanks for getting in touch!

A Google image search doesn't turn up a lot. A Google search turned up a site that credits the crap out of RPGs, and she's got a LOT of credits; unfortunately, I have none of the listed books, so I had to do an image search.

From what little I could see, she would not be a bad choice at all. She does not appear to be one of those people who severely distorts the image and calls it art; I detest that kind of stuff. A face should not be as big as a beachball. If some one can post some stuff to change my mind otherwise, I say she's got my vote.

Of course, if we get other nominations, then we will HAVE TO have an art contest or something; people digging up or scanning in good art and posting it in a poll.

Liz would be an AWESOME person to have do the art. She is a gamer, game designer, and artist...

and she's also got a very wide range of styles in her reptoire.

GO LIZ!!!

As I stated in the original post, check out her work in Twilight 2000 reprints. Also, rather than use Google image search try eBay for Twilight 2000...as I believe that she also did most of the covers, so looking at the old stuff will give you an idea.

Plus, she was pretty prolific in DGP, so if you have their products...you will find her there.

Lastly, check out website (http://www.oakheart.com/)

True, if we going to take nominations for artists, we have to run a proper contest but this post is to rally the troops around Liz's work.

Liz's work was way cool and if she can be discovered from the ghost of google probably still be cool

MJD/Hunter:

Has Liz contacted you about work on the 1248 sourcebook. Her views of the Twilight universe would be suited for the darker milieu that you planned...

Yeah... her and the guy who did Dark Conspiracy/TNE careers/Shadowrun Screen (that Horrid Shadowrun again, b-r-r-r-r!)....

Dig 'em both!

Damn! Yes she did contact me and we exchanged a couple of emails and then I got side-tracked into other stuff and forgot to follow up with her. Thanks for reminding me!

Ok, MJD/Hunter lets give Liz the contract for much of the artwork. Looking through the Twilight 2000 is this not a line that says Humaniti must struggle through the muck and eventually to achieve glory.

Now if I am not mistaken the whole thrust of Milieu 1248 is much the same. Furthermore, Liz is an accomplished and well respected artist with deep roots in the Traveller community...although, we might have to send her a few photocopies to jog her memory after been left in the Wilds so long.
