Opening a topic for discussion, with the fusion of all forms of media. Do we think the next stage of RPGs should be that mix and merge with Hollywood. Contacting publicists for the stars to ask for a donation of headshots which can then be ported into costumes of the game designers choosing. Sort of, Second Life, avatars but more realistic. What do others think?

I think Kafka is asking wether game developers could license celebrities' likenesses for use in creating characters in video games and massively multiplayer RPGs like Second Life.

This allready happens but on an individual basis. Any celebrity worth mentioning charges so much that unless you can specifically use their likeness to generate massive sales of the product, it's not worth even going there. On the whole, unknowns that don't get royalties are used for realistic game models. It's much cheaper.

That or digital people like Victoria, Michael, Sydney or Simon. I am amazed at how often I see V3 or M3, now that I know what to look for.

No, I would wonder if the people who currently run a laison office between Hollywood and the gaming industry (can't remember for sure who but I think it is Cindi Rice from TSR)** who puts the two together could not negociate something whereby "likeness" could then be imported.

I could see this starting on a very small scale at first, no name actors & actress in exchange for their portfolio being built up. Then gradually approaching the gamers in Hollywood power structure to talk about cross-marketing.

**If people are interested I can research to find the name of laison, it was in the additional commentary of the second D&D film or Monte Cook's site, not sure where I came across it.
