Pirates of Drinax Ending Joke?

Spoilers

Yeah I'm a little late, pop in and out months at a time. Pleased to see the Finale finally up, greatly enjoyed this campaign adventure.
One little thing...
That throw away paragraph on the final page: Ecyclopedia Gallactica. Saying how Kingdom of Drinax was re-established in 1105... then destroyed again in 1119.
Was that meant as a joke? As in tee hee, not part of canon so we found a way to get rid of it. Or yeah it was all tongue in cheek anyway? Or GeDeCo was right all along, and since Traveller is based on 70's sci-fi, Harry Seldon and Psychohistory can't be wrong? Or is it what happens when the PC's aren't driving the plot. Or as I said before, the PC's don't affect anything?

1119 would be when the entire Aslan Hierate passed through en-route to their preposterous invasion of the Imperium... :CoW:

Yeah, it's half reference to the Megatraveller Aslan invasion, half mordant humour. It's not like the Trojan Reach isn't littered with the remains of other petty empires.

Obviously, if you're actually running a campaign that makes it to 1119, then canon schmanon.

I'm not sure it's necessarily a joke, but it could be.

I think it's an illustration of the idea of:

best-laid schemes o' mice an' men gang aft a-gley

That is, your players participated in history. As Mytholder pointed out, Traveller is crowded full of the ruins of these insignificant polities that rose and fell and they certainly don't make it into the history books on Vland or Terra. It's entirely possible they might even be just a footnote in history books of the planets involved.

Nevertheless, these polities didn't just sort of sprout by themselves "like weeds" -- they were made by the blood, sweat, tears, and yeah, the lives of people like the players, the NPCs (and those they killed).
