Having just laughed my way through Gamers 2...I think it is time that they try a new trope. We could all have a good laugh, if Traveller along with many other SFRPGs were spoofed in a new Gamers movie.

Things for the script to consider:
  • One character constantly dying in Chargen before the Ref says..."ok, I relent, no Iron Man rule this time you are disabled only."
  • One really old character ie Veteran of the Clone Wars when everyone in the universe looked like spam.
  • An independent minded princess whose player's name is Gloria.
  • A Referee who has a vast collection of manuals, charts and loose leaf binders.
  • Imperium costumes provided cosplayers like the 501st legion. And, maybe they can help with the aliens too.
  • Crossover with Firefly where characters speak with a Western twang.
  • Multiple worlds loading & unloading cargo before arriving at a dungeon crawl in an amusement park/laser tag walk through to discover an "Ancient" artifact.
What other plot pitches should we include...

Okay, uh...(gag on one of the movies going round at the Traveller's height)

Scene in a bar, guy in black facing away from the camera, younger kid in flight suit comes up and pats him on the back mistakenly...

"Hey dad, it's Luke."

Guy turns around...

"Sorry Luke, I'm not your father."

Cut to a scene on a starport tarmac, a pair of identical model starships are sitting next to each other. The crew from the left one are taking a tour of the one on the right. It's huge, I mean huge inside, as in echoes can be heard as they talk and walk.

Next the group moves to the other starship, which is tiny (deckplans gag)

Cut to scene in the bridge of a typical Traveller freighter. Navigator entering coordinates and the computer whizzes away displaying those funny traveller symbols...

Pilot going down a checklist and following the computer as it echoes each of the steps.

Finally the funny symbols display and the pilot says: "JUMP!" and he pushes the button. Nothing happens.

More funny symbols.

"Damn Vilani computer!" screams the pilot. A strange voice echoes on the bridge...

"Sorry Dave, but I didn't say Simon Says!"

:oo:

okay, forget that, here's another one...

Okay, scene at a LARP at a convention...for a Traveller/Trek Crossover.

Fat guys in bad makeup wearing Trek unis (tight ones) and another guy
wearing fatigues. One of the Trek guys has pointed plastic ears.

Plastic Ears to the guy in Fatigues, in a monotone Vulcan voice: "Place
equal pressure on the forefinger and the thumb, grab quickly and press
with a solid amount of force." (Raises hand to illustrate pinching motion)

Fatigues Guy (licks lips, nods and leaves picture). Others crouch as if expecting
an attack.

Off camera, woman's voice: "OWWW!"

Loud slapping sound follows.

Plastic Ears: "It would seem the Traveller Mercenaries pinch too low captain."

Okay, guess that's enough for today...I'll leave...relax... I'm going...I'm going...
