Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.
Ordinary fire flame is just a combustion plasma.
This looks like a "flame front" (the tube winding) which is long enough to prevent a back pressure from reaching all the way to the lighter torch when the thing "blows" a shot forwards. The fuel rich/oxygen poor flame front reaches the rear 5 gallon bottle, which is air rich/fuel poor and the flame front just IGNITES the air. Then, just like a rocket, it's "easier" to blast that overpressure out the forward 5 gallon bottle and there's "enough of a nozzle effect" for the expansion that you get something that behaves very much like a single flame pulse rocket thrust (hence the recoil kick seen in the video).
